    Hi everyone,

    We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams of all sizes collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.

    The new Microsoft Project has been redesigned. You can see your tasks on a Gantt chart (“Timeline”) view, a Board view (similar to Planner’s), and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users. I encourage you to look at the links below and the attached GIF for a sneak peak.

    With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.

    In response to the Project and Planner teams message recommending you purchase project for the web - do NOT do this!

    Project for the web is HEAVILY underdeveloped and has no connections with planner or teams. Users will not be notified if you schedule tasks to them and getting to the project is a hassle.

    There is no true integration with teams (you just add a web page tab).

    Most of project for the web advertising is very misleading and Project for the Web has very little development on the roadmap.

    Until they do major updates Project for the Web is a terrible tool for project/task management and Planner is much more powerful.

    The only thing planner is missing that Project for the web has is the gantt view and dependencies.

    I am utterly disappointed in how misleading Microsoft's advertising is for Project for the Web.

    We’ve brought the Planner board view to the new Project! Along with this, you can see your tasks on a Timeline view, and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users.

    You can now choose up to 25 colored labels per task in Planner and Planner tasks in Tasks in Teams. More labels allows for greater flexibility when organizing tasks. Use labels to flag risks, signal delays, help fine tune task prioritization, clarify accountabilities, or categorize tasks around a theme spanning multiple buckets. Anything you can think of that requires color-coding and tagging tasks, labels can help.

    More labels has been a top customer ask and we’re happy to make it available now to all organizations. Try it out in the mobile and web/desktop versions of Planner and Tasks in Teams.

    As an update, our colleagues in To-Do have delivered the ability to create tasks directly from Outlook.com!

    To-Do has rolled out the Tasks Pane for Outlook.com’s Mail & Calendar, and is also the new Tasks for Outlook.com! With Planner’s & To-Do’s integration, we hope that To-Do will become a central hub for all of your personal tasks, and that switching to Planner to collaborate with others is seamless!

    Thanks for the feedback on the Filter menu and cross-plan search functionality!

    Next we’d like to pursue widening the Filter metadata to include other fields like assignee, description, and checklists. We’re also working with a search team in Office to align with UX and functionality across Office 365.

    This work hasn’t been scheduled yet, but we will update this thread as soon as it is.

    Please continue to share details on the filter and search functionality you’d like to see in Planner!

    I think the 'birds-eye view' is a perfect descriptor for what is needed. As a project manager, I am having a hard time tracking my team's success.

    I would love to have ways to tag specific tasks (because projects may span across multiple teams/channels (aka various plans). That way, I could identify the progress of a project across the different teams/channels.

    We’re in the process of finalizing designs for a Planner add-in for Outlook. From the add-in, users will be able to create tasks for Planner without having to leave their inbox. The email subject and body will autofill as the task title and description, respectively, and users will have the ability to set plan, bucket and assignees . We appreciate your feedback and patience and look forward to this first step in what we hope to be a greater integration with Outlook!

    We don’t have any major updates to share at this time – Export to excel is still our first step towards delivering better reporting capabilities in Planner. You can find updates and discussion on this suggestion here:

    Hello! Since this is one of our top asks from users (and has been for quite a while), we wanted to provide a quick update here. As mentioned in our last update, our team has been heads down shipping some recent integrations, such as the Tasks app in teams and Tasks in Docs (both of which have initial versions rolling out now!).

    Recurring tasks (and the other top UserVoice asks) are still high on our backlog. I’ll provide updates here as this feature gets closer to being shipped! We also may use this forum to reach out to you, our engaged users, with design questions we have—so stay tuned if you’d like to help us bring you the best version of recurring tasks!
