As an update, our colleagues in To-Do have delivered the ability to create tasks directly from Outlook.com!

To-Do has rolled out the Tasks Pane for Outlook.com’s Mail & Calendar, and is also the new Tasks for Outlook.com! With Planner’s & To-Do’s integration, we hope that To-Do will become a central hub for all of your personal tasks, and that switching to Planner to collaborate with others is seamless!

Here’s more information on the To-Do’s task experience within Outlook: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/using-microsoft-to-do-with-outlook-com-416865a1-0c4d-4e69-af6f-f98ffce3747c

Convert Outlook email into Planner tasks (associated to a Microsoft Team's channel) with a simple click / button would be of great help to business users.

Especially when an email is communicated to multiple users for a time-bound activity that require users' reply. I hope by simply a click on those related emails will create a new task or tag to existing task/bucket in Planner for monitoring purpose. Just like how this can be done in Trello.

Yup, currently Trello allows user to add Outlook emails (and attachments) to the Trello Cards/Dashboard without leaving Outlook, once I have downloaded Trello as an app in Outlook. Hence it would be great if same function is available from Outlook to Microsoft Planner (convert email & attachments to a Task in Planner).
