I believe this is a very crucial function and I am puzzled to see that it has been almost 2 years and you are still thinking about it. If you are hoping for wider use of the Planner app then a more aggressive schedule with your enhancements should take place. The Planner app has a lot of potential.

Currently, every time you create a new plan it creates an new group and as result a new workspace in power bi, making it a really confusing for all the users who are start seeing multiple empty workspaces. It is a really poor design. Having the ability to create multiple plans within the same group will allow people to create groups based on the their team or a team that will be working on particular areas and then create as many plans as they need. They can have a plan for each year, for each project, etc. without the confusion of groups. Groups and plans should not be depended to each other.

    Hi everyone,

We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.

We’ve brought the Planner board view to the new Project! Along with this, you can see your tasks on a Timeline view, and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users.

With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.

Thanks everyone for your patience, I encourage you to check out the new Project, and even start a trial – see the attached GIF

We don’t have any major updates to share at this time – Export to excel is still our first step towards delivering better reporting capabilities in Planner. You can find updates and discussion on this suggestion here:

Thank you for your patience and feedback! If you have any other suggestions on how you’d like to utilize reporting functionality in Planner, please comment below!

    Cheers,
    The Planner Team

It will be great if the reporting could happen within power bi. Currently, the planner app does not contain any options for reporting on all the plans using on report. If the data stored in the planner app could be accessed through Power BI it will open a lot of reporting possibilities and could increase the adoption of the Planner app by more users and organizations. I am very confident that no matter what reports are created within the planner there will always be companies and users that were looking for something different. Making the data available to power bi can solve most of the reporting requirements.

    Hello!

We’ve just released our integration with To-Do as a first step towards a larger task coherence initiative.

Why To-Do and not Outlook tasks?
We are integrating with To-Do because Outlook tasks is being replaced with the To-Do app. This experience has already shipped for Outlook Web users, and the To-Do team is working on bringing this to Outlook Desktop apps as well.

Today, you can view and edit Planner tasks you’ve been assigned in To-Do’s new Assigned to me list. This is available on to-do.office.com and To-Do’s Windows, Android, and iOS apps.

Here are more details on this integration: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Planner-Blog/Planner-and-To-Do-integration-bringing-you-a-more-cohesive-task/ba-p/553485

Our work in this area is not done, and we’re relying on you to help us decide what’s next! This thread has grown to encompass a lot of different ideas and pain points, so we’d love to break it out to help us prioritize and dive deeper into user…
