    Hi everyone,

Thanks for your patience! Since our last update, we’ve released a few features to address the feedback around notifications.

We’ve heard loud and clear that comment notification emails should go to only users who are relevant to a given task. Therefore, we’re excited to announce we’ve updated the integration between Planner and Groups so that users following the group associated to the Planner plan will no longer receive a group email in their personal inbox when comments are made for tasks they have never commented on before. Group emails notifications for all task comments in a plan are still sent to the group mailbox. We believe this behavior should ensure comment notification emails are scoped to a more relevant audience of those who have previously commented on the task instead of being sent to all members of the plan.

Additionally, we’ve added more context to the comment notifications…

+1 - One notification feature that would be great is that whenever a comment is added to a task that all assigned users can get an email notification even if they haven't commented on it yet. Right now if someone is assigned and doesn't comment they will not get the comment notifications from other users.

FAIL! Sorry, but notifications on tasks assigned to one person STILL spam the entire group. This is VERY BAD and is causing my teams to loose confidence in this tool. We are exploring other options and will likely abandon Planner unless this is corrected in the immediate future.

Seriously, how hard could this be? WHEN will you roll out this update?

Right now, I am struggling to gain adoption of planner because of the ridiculous amount of notifications when people comment on a task. The notification should only go to the task creator and assigned resources. Please just implement that feature. You can add all the other bells and whistles later (notify on followed tasks, etc.).
Right now, we are on the verge of ditching planner all together because it's entirely too noisy.

Please include a link back to the task when a notification is sent, especially for comments. Right now, I get emails from comments on tasks, but it's not always clear which task it's for. This happens when someone updates the title for a task, then makes a comment. The email subject still reflects the old title, and there is no link to the task making it hard to tie the comment back to the right task.

As an update, our colleagues in To-Do have delivered the ability to create tasks directly from Outlook.com!

To-Do has rolled out the Tasks Pane for Outlook.com’s Mail & Calendar, and is also the new Tasks for Outlook.com! With Planner’s & To-Do’s integration, we hope that To-Do will become a central hub for all of your personal tasks, and that switching to Planner to collaborate with others is seamless!

Here’s more information on the To-Do’s task experience within Outlook: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/using-microsoft-to-do-with-outlook-com-416865a1-0c4d-4e69-af6f-f98ffce3747c

    Thanks for your feedback!

With due date options in the Filter menu, and the ability to group tasks by due date category, we’re hoping that this will help Planner users find and organize upcoming dates and deadlines.

We understand there is still an ask for sorting tasks within an existing grouping, please continue to use this thread to share feedback on this.

    Cheers,

    The Planner Team

Hello! Since this is one of our top asks from users (and has been for quite a while), we wanted to provide a quick update here. As mentioned in our last update, our team has been heads down shipping some recent integrations, such as the Tasks app in teams and Tasks in Docs (both of which have initial versions rolling out now!).

Recurring tasks (and the other top UserVoice asks) are still high on our backlog. I’ll provide updates here as this feature gets closer to being shipped! We also may use this forum to reach out to you, our engaged users, with design questions we have—so stay tuned if you’d like to help us bring you the best version of recurring tasks!

In the meantime, it’s great to see so much active engagement here. We continue to iterate on our initial designs as we get more feedback from users,…

    Hi everyone,

We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams of all sizes collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.

The new Microsoft Project has been redesigned. You can see your tasks on a Gantt chart (“Timeline”) view, a Board view (similar to Planner’s), and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users. I encourage you to look at the links below and the attached GIF for a sneak peak.

With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.

Thank you for your feedback! We’ve improved the ‘Copy task’ dialogue so you can chose a different plan to send a copy of a task to! We’ll be exploring and expanding the ways in which you and your team can organize work in Planner, and hope this will be a helpful step forward.

Here’s an article to learn more about this feature: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=872349

Let us know what you think below! Thanks again for taking the time to vote for this idea.

    Cheers,

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for your patience. We have updated our Copy Plan experience – please try it out today!

This improvement will include the ability to choose an existing group or team to copy the plan into (or choose to create a new group). You’ll also be able to customize what gets copied over. Attachments can only be copied over into existing groups.

You can learn more here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/planner-blog/expanding-the-copy-plan-and-filtering-features-based-on-your/ba-p/1483491

Hello! We wanted to provide an update to our status below. As we announced in our previous status update, our initial integration with To Do was our first step in a journey of bringing all your Microsoft Task Management services closer together, including Outlook and Planner. Through To Do, you can see your Planner tasks within Outlook on the Web.

However, the continuing feedback on this post makes it clear that there is a desire for more work to be done to improve this experience. We want to make sure this feedback and votes aren’t getting lost by being added to this existing post.

Instead, we’d like to make sure you have a forum to express these continuing pain points / desires, and a way to vote for which ones you’d like us to work on first (and how we should prioritize those asks against the many other great asks…

YES!!! Please add this grossly overlooked feature!!!!
Also, please address the issue that happens when someone updates the title for a task, then makes a comment. The email subject still reflects the old title, and there is no link to the task making it close to impossible to tie the comment back to the right task.

    Hello!

Thanks for all the feedback! We’ve just launched push notifications in our latest app update. Users should now see a push notification when a task is assigned to them. You can learn more about this feature here: https://support.office.com/article/get-notifications-about-your-tasks-and-plans-cce223d6-b0ae-43cf-a080-266e2414a859

We’re looking to add more notification types in future updates, so let us know in the comments if there are specific types of notifications you’d like to see!

    Cheers,

    The Planner Team

A want to have the option of notifying only those assigned to a task when comments are posted. It creates entirely too much noise when a task is assigned to 2 members of a 10 person team and they are commenting on each task. Right now, all 10 members assigned to the plan are notified vs just the two assigned to the task/card. The result is people don’t use commenting (because it’s noisy) and the card lacks a history of what happened.
