You can now choose up to 25 colored labels per task in Planner and Planner tasks in Tasks in Teams. More labels allows for greater flexibility when organizing tasks. Use labels to flag risks, signal delays, help fine tune task prioritization, clarify accountabilities, or categorize tasks around a theme spanning multiple buckets. Anything you can think of that requires color-coding and tagging tasks, labels can help.
More labels has been a top customer ask and we’re happy to make it available now to all organizations. Try it out in the mobile and web/desktop versions of Planner and Tasks in Teams.

Having used Planner for a few months now to track and handle support requests, I can't believe that this feature hasn't been added yet. I can't have employees modifying the due dates and urgency of their requests just to bump it to the front of the line. No reason this shouldn't already be added after four years.
