We’re thinking about a few approaches for enabling this capability
Thank you for the feedback!
We are still thinking about how we can best build this feature and are considering adding the ability to “Group by due date” within the Board and My Tasks view. What do you all think about this direction? We would love to hear more about specific scenarios you would be able to accomplish with this, or what would be most helpful to you and your team.
Thanks for all the feedback. We’re fans of this feature and are exploring the best way to provide users with a beautiful timeline by default.
Thanks for all the feedback! Based off all the comments, we’re focusing on email notifications for the following scenarios:
1. When a task is assigned to you
2. Changes on a task assigned to you
3. Comments on a task assigned to you
4. When you are @ mentioned in a task comment
Our team is currently working on email notifications when a task is assigned to you, and have started planning for the other scenarios. We’re also considering notifications for when you choose to follow a task.
We will continue to monitor the comments here and provide ongoing updates. We appreciate your feedback, so please continue to let us know how you’ll use notifications and if we’re missing anything!
We’ve started development on the first item:
1. Support viewing Planner Tasks on an Outlook Calendar
We will add the ability to turn on an iCalendar feed (.ics feed) for the “My Tasks” view and for each Plan. You can subscribe to this feed in Outlook to see Planner tasks in context with your other events.
We expect to start work on the second item soon:
2. Create a Calendar/Schedule visualization
We’ll create a new view that allows you to easily view and edit tasks in the context of a calendar.
Thank you for your feedback!
As a first step, we are working on delivering the ability to copy a task within a board. Updates on this feature can be found on this thread: https://planner.uservoice.com/forums/330525-microsoft-planner-feedback-forum/suggestions/14914122-copy-a-task
After this is complete, we will explore this functionality for plans as a whole. Much of the work involved with these features will be able to carry over to templates. We are actively thinking about what the best plan template experience is. We would love to hear more about specific scenarios you would find templates useful for and what information you would want to carry over between templates. Any examples or ideas are appreciated!

Thank you for the feedback! We love that our customers are interested in utilizing Planner in this way.
As a first step, we have added exporting to Excel to our roadmap and have changed the title of this thread to focus the conversation on this feature. Our team would love to hear more about the specific scenarios you would like to use this for so that we can build the best possible experience around this!
Thank you for your feedback!
As a first step, we are planning on developing the ability to export to Excel. For updates and discussion on this suggestion, follow this thread: https://planner.uservoice.com/forums/330525-microsoft-planner-feedback-forum/suggestions/11116770-import-export-from-to-excel-project-etc
Moving forward we would like to have an API that is geared towards reporting scenarios. In order to build the best experience around this, we would love to hear about the specific scenarios and uses your team would have for reporting with Planner!PD commented
direct reporting through PowerBI would be excellent (preferable to a two-step Excel/PowerBI export/import)
