Thank you for your feedback! We’ve improved the ‘Copy task’ dialogue so you can chose a different plan to send a copy of a task to! We’ll be exploring and expanding the ways in which you and your team can organize work in Planner, and hope this will be a helpful step forward.

Here’s an article to learn more about this feature: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=872349

Let us know what you think below! Thanks again for taking the time to vote for this idea.

    Cheers,

    The Planner Team

This is the only top five request Microsoft does not even "think about". Seems that the users' efforts requesting this feature are in vain.

I can see that this is difficult to implement due to the Groups concept and the fact that attachments to Tasks are in a SharePoint repository associated with a Group. Therefore, I would like to open the discussion on an - arguably even better - alternative to moving Tasks from Plan to Plan: An improved “My Tasks”:

    - Task in My Tasks should have all attributes present in the plan view, including: (a) colour, (b) ability to attack documents, (c) ability to add assignees (I understand that (b) and (c) may be difficult to implement, therefore they can be postponed)

    - Ability to sort by all features of a Task, including colour, start date, due date and bucket (I mean the bucket in the respective plan; very useful if there are multiple similar plans - as in our office – that all have the same three buckets)

    - A button on the card of each Task to get to the respective plan with just one click (very important)

The idea is that these improvements together facilitate working across multiple plans, thereby making it unnecessary to move Tasks from one plan to another in order to keep an overview. At least for our organisation I would prefer a better “My Tasks” over the ability to move tasks between plans:

    (1) In the morning, users look at their “My Tasks” and sort them by colour, bucket or other property in order to figure out which Task should be done first, then

    (2) They click the “go to Plan” button to get to the respective plan where they can see the other tasks in order to understand the context of their task

    (3) Finally, users click on these tasks to see the details and start working.

If in the “My Tasks” view (b) ability to attack documents, (c) ability to add assignees were implemented, users could swap steps (2) and (3) if they like.

I am looking forward to comments.

Task should be sortable by any suitable field including but not limited to due date, start date, colour tag, assignee, bucket, plan and status, both in the plan view and in the “My Tasks” view (unfortunately, currently colour tags do not even show in "my Tasks" view).

Paul Walker wrote: "task summaries don't show start dates". This is an oddity indeed. For tasks that take more than a day, start dates are just as important as due dates, because when you start work only on the due date, you are certain to miss your deadline. Accordingly, start dates must be shown in the task summaries and tasks must (at least optionally) appear at the start date in the calendar.

Certainly, the integration with the Outlook calendar would be nice. Just like the Integration with Outlook tasks and Wunderlist.

When you are doing this Integration, consider that depending on how users organize their work they may want to see the tasks in the calendar at the start date, the due date or another date, for example the date of a steering committee meeting (this would require a custom filed) that is a certain number of days before the completion date.

Thus, please allow for flexibility as to the date when you integrate Planner with Outlook calendar and Outlook tasks. Same with any calendar/schedule visualisation.

I agree with craig: You have to create the option for subtasks with ability to assign to different people and have their own status and due dates!

It is quite odd that one can change the status of a task to "completed" even if not all items of the checklist are checked. Expected behaviour would be that the status of a task can only be changed to "completed" if all checklist items are checked.

    Thanks for your feedback!

With due date options in the Filter menu, and the ability to group tasks by due date category, we’re hoping that this will help Planner users find and organize upcoming dates and deadlines.

We understand there is still an ask for sorting tasks within an existing grouping, please continue to use this thread to share feedback on this.

    Cheers,

    The Planner Team

Consider that many users may rather want to sort by *start date*.

Hello All! The priority feature is complete! Priority is rolled out to production across the Web and Teams. It’s also available in the mobile app an in the beta endpoint for the MS graph API. We’ve also updated the charts view to include a priority chart .

Please give it a try and let us know what you think! If there’s something you’d like us to improve upon, please find and vote on that suggestion or create a new one so we can prioritize accordingly.

It seems the easiest solution to this Problem would be to to be able to sort Tasks in the “My Tasks” view by colour. L, Mark, Theresa, what do you think?

    Hi everyone,

We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.

We’ve brought the Planner board view to the new Project! Along with this, you can see your tasks on a Timeline view, and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users.

With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.

Thanks everyone for your patience, I encourage you to check out the new Project, and even start a trial – see the attached GIF

Hello! We wanted to provide an update to our status below. As we announced in our previous status update, our initial integration with To Do was our first step in a journey of bringing all your Microsoft Task Management services closer together, including Outlook and Planner. Through To Do, you can see your Planner tasks within Outlook on the Web.

However, the continuing feedback on this post makes it clear that there is a desire for more work to be done to improve this experience. We want to make sure this feedback and votes aren’t getting lost by being added to this existing post.

Instead, we’d like to make sure you have a forum to express these continuing pain points / desires, and a way to vote for which ones you’d like us to work on first (and how we should prioritize those asks against the many other great asks…

As John Hopkins commented  on April 5, there is a my Tasks view that shows tasks across multiple projects. Lance, Tyler, are you satisfied with this?
