    Hi everyone,

We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams of all sizes collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.

The new Microsoft Project has been redesigned. You can see your tasks on a Gantt chart (“Timeline”) view, a Board view (similar to Planner’s), and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users. I encourage you to look at the links below and the attached GIF for a sneak peak.

With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.

    Thanks everyone…

I'm sure you guys are whooping and chest bumping at the Project 1 launch, but you've missed the mark sorely here. I've been championing Planner for years now and finally when we get people over to the platform (and bear in mind this has been FOUR YEARS since this pretty fundamental function was requested) you go and create a crippled premium isolated addition that literally no one in my company wants to use.
Project is too expensive and complex for the basic planning we need
Project 1 is overly simplified to the point where it's no use (did you even look at the gantt output? Can you see what's going on??)
Planner will now never have the function as you've portioned that off to Project 1.

People are leaving this in droves in favour of Enterprise Trello (with circa 250 users), and I've given up the fight. I expect to see the rest of the company following suite and I personally am now leaving Planner if the speed to market is so slow for basic features and misses the mark to badly like this.

    I'm really gutted.

This is a feature in Trello (it's a Power-up app that shows the internal numbering system), however I would want an indexed number that is created when the task is created, not updated when it's moved across buckets etc. This would allow us to find and reference tasks when they're referred to elsewhere.
    https://photos.app.goo.gl/94Ge3yQ3oDdjD1fcA

It would need to be a single digit, or at least have the option for 1 decimal place) as the internal task number system on planner is nonsense to humans

As an update, since we’ve still been seeing issues around date formatting, so we’re pursuing another fix that should help: If you’re using Planner within Teams, we will default to using the same language/local as Teams.

If you’re seeing this issue persist outside of Teams and your language/locale is set properly for your Office account, please let us know in the comments below!

    Thanks,
    The Planner Team

Where is the language meant to be set? Mine is set correctly (EN-GB) in OWA, but I don't have access to the settings section of 365 (totalit IT team). Is this where it should be done?

This limit has been removed – users can now have thousands of tasks assigned to them.

We’re continuing work around performance and actively monitoring how many users hit this limit. So far, we only have seen users with unchecked Flows/automated task assignments hitting this limit.

We are planning on publishing formal documentation around all of our Planner limits once we’ve completed more performance work, but don’t have anything to share at this time.

    Cheers,
    The Planner Team

I'd expand this to mean that they are excluded from statistics. For a group with ongoing tasks the 'completed' qty starts to eclipse the ongoing tasks so becomes meaningless

Needs this to make the doughnut useful, after a lot of completed tasks the 90% green provides a false representation of a project status.

Perhaps the doughnut includes recently completed, but after 1 month it archived the tasks?

As an update, our colleagues in To-Do have delivered the ability to create tasks directly from Outlook.com!

To-Do has rolled out the Tasks Pane for Outlook.com’s Mail & Calendar, and is also the new Tasks for Outlook.com! With Planner’s & To-Do’s integration, we hope that To-Do will become a central hub for all of your personal tasks, and that switching to Planner to collaborate with others is seamless!

Essential, much like the timeline view in project with milestones and selected buckets/tasks displayed.
Also needs a web part to show on ANY group page.

This needs refinement, we need to be able to define who is ultimately responsible for the task. Something akin to a simple RACI assignment would be suitable.

We’ve just released a Filter menu in Planner where you can filter tasks by due date, label, or assignee. You can also enter a keyword to search for a task by it’s title!

We value your suggestions and comments highly – thank you for contributing to this feature.

Let us know what you think!
To send us a message, open the Office Help menu (question mark icon in right corner of Planner or Office 365 menu) and select “Feedback”. Include the word “Planner” and it’ll make it’s way to us.
    OR
To share your thoughts with the Planner community, include #MicrosoftPlanner in a Tweet.

    Cheers,

    The Planner Team

Just like Trello, be able to view tasks, in date order, and filtered to how imminently they are due.

Also needs to be able to filter by due date - as per Trello's:

    Due in the next day
    Due in the next week
    Due in the next month
    Overdue
    Has no due date
    Clear Filter

Thanks for your feedback. We now set posting Task Activity (Task Assign and Complete) to the Group Conversation to Off By Default. Plan/Group owners can turn this setting on/off in the “Edit Plan” dialog.

Oh dear jesus please implement this, when you're first setting up a plan it just HAMMERS you with notifications. It also seems to ignore the 'subscribe' option on one of my plans, meaning I get all this **** twice.

    Hello!

We’ve just released our integration with To-Do as a first step towards a larger task coherence initiative.

Why To-Do and not Outlook tasks?
We are integrating with To-Do because Outlook tasks is being replaced with the To-Do app. This experience has already shipped for Outlook Web users, and the To-Do team is working on bringing this to Outlook Desktop apps as well.

Today, you can view and edit Planner tasks you’ve been assigned in To-Do’s new Assigned to me list. This is available on to-do.office.com and To-Do’s Windows, Android, and iOS apps.

Here are more details on this integration: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Planner-Blog/Planner-and-To-Do-integration-bringing-you-a-more-cohesive-task/ba-p/553485

Our work in this area is not done, and we’re relying on you to help us decide what’s next! This thread has grown to encompass a lot of different ideas and pain points, so we’d love to break it out to help us prioritize and dive deeper into user…
