    Hi everyone,

We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams of all sizes collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.

The new Microsoft Project has been redesigned. You can see your tasks on a Gantt chart (“Timeline”) view, a Board view (similar to Planner’s), and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users. I encourage you to look at the links below and the attached GIF for a sneak peak.

With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.

    Thanks everyone…

If you build apps in silos this is what happens. This suggests that the Project team have flexed their internal muscle to keep the Planner team in their place.

The people who suffer are the O365 users who want integrated tools not disconnected apps.

I get the need to protect the Project revenue channel but why not build out from existing apps (in this case Planner) and offer features like Gantt charts as bolt-ons?

Expecting customers to start using something new (with fewer features and where integration is non-existant as far as I can see) is arrogant, insulting and suggests bad decision making on Microsoft's part.

Hello! Since this is one of our top asks from users (and has been for quite a while), we wanted to provide a quick update here. As mentioned in our last update, our team has been heads down shipping some recent integrations, such as the Tasks app in teams and Tasks in Docs (both of which have initial versions rolling out now!).

Recurring tasks (and the other top UserVoice asks) are still high on our backlog. I’ll provide updates here as this feature gets closer to being shipped! We also may use this forum to reach out to you, our engaged users, with design questions we have—so stay tuned if you’d like to help us bring you the best version of recurring tasks!

In the meantime, it’s great to see so much active engagement here. We continue to iterate on our initial designs as we get more feedback from users,…

This is essential to make the most of the integration with To-Do

    Checklist needs the following essential enhancements;

Ability to assign to another group member
Due date (which by implication relates to the due date of the master task)

Subtasks do not necessarily have to be dependencies but they could be.

We don’t have any major updates to share at this time – Export to excel is still our first step towards delivering better reporting capabilities in Planner. You can find updates and discussion on this suggestion here:

As an update, our colleagues in To-Do have delivered the ability to create tasks directly from Outlook.com!

To-Do has rolled out the Tasks Pane for Outlook.com’s Mail & Calendar, and is also the new Tasks for Outlook.com! With Planner’s & To-Do’s integration, we hope that To-Do will become a central hub for all of your personal tasks, and that switching to Planner to collaborate with others is seamless!

Here’s more information on the To-Do’s task experience within Outlook: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/using-microsoft-to-do-with-outlook-com-416865a1-0c4d-4e69-af6f-f98ffce3747c

The flow you suggest to use in the meantime is not a robust solution. You can only create a Planner Task to a specified plan, which is limiting / useless given you can't move planner tasks between groups (currently).

Hello! We wanted to provide an update to our status below. As we announced in our previous status update, our initial integration with To Do was our first step in a journey of bringing all your Microsoft Task Management services closer together, including Outlook and Planner. Through To Do, you can see your Planner tasks within Outlook on the Web.

However, the continuing feedback on this post makes it clear that there is a desire for more work to be done to improve this experience. We want to make sure this feedback and votes aren’t getting lost by being added to this existing post.

Instead, we’d like to make sure you have a forum to express these continuing pain points / desires, and a way to vote for which ones you’d like us to work on first (and how we should prioritize those asks against the many other great asks…

I was very hopeful that planner would be a great tool and addition to the 365 portfolio. Twelve months on and little has changed. The issues that most people have voted for were obvious. So why does it take so long to fix the issue of task integration. In a video published in Nov 15 at the same time as planner preview, entitled Office 365 Tasks API https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTCqW1IMr-I the speaker heralds the arrival of Planner and explains with great enthusiasm that Planner has been built using the Tasks API and Graph. Am I missing something or is this assumption simply incorrect? If the Tasks API was used as the foundation for Planner, why doesn't it work, why is the status for this improvement set as "thinking about it" if the functionality is there already and why does it take 12 months to fix it? Please update us - we have been waiting too long...
