    Hi everyone,

We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams of all sizes collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.

The new Microsoft Project has been redesigned. You can see your tasks on a Gantt chart (“Timeline”) view, a Board view (similar to Planner’s), and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users. I encourage you to look at the links below and the attached GIF for a sneak peak.

With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.

    Thanks everyone…

Taking a feature being requested for an app people already pay for and use and throwing it into a different, licensed app is not a good look. Honestly, this just adds more confusion to Microsoft Project and Task management landscape. We have Planner, Project P1, Project, Microsoft DevOps boards, To-Do, Outlook tasks, and OneNote tasks.

Honestly, maybe 1 or 2 products should be needed for tasks out of this entire list. If I purchase Wrike, I can get a Gantt chart, view my project in a Kanban board view, or view it as a regular checklist.

I think a Gantt chart is a helpful visualization of the work that is going on with a project or even within a team. Since Teams and Groups can be used to keep a functional team organized, a manager or member of the team can view the team's open projects and efforts and help plan accordingly.

Being able to send a link or export this information would be particularly useful too.

    Hello all,

As an update, we’ve paused work on this item to pursue wrapping up work on a few other high priority asks.

We appreciate your patience and feedback on this, and hope to resume work on this soon. Please keep voting and letting us know that you’d like to see in a Planner UWP app!

    Cheers,

    The Planner Team

I think a PWA would be great on the desktop. Receive push notifications (so we can stop with the emails!) send content to a card, and quick access without logging into the full portal. Would really like some kind of search function.

Instead of UWP, maybe this is a great opportunity for a PWA app

Thanks for the feedback on the Filter menu and cross-plan search functionality!

Next we’d like to pursue widening the Filter metadata to include other fields like assignee, description, and checklists. We’re also working with a search team in Office to align with UX and functionality across Office 365.

This work hasn’t been scheduled yet, but we will update this thread as soon as it is.

Please continue to share details on the filter and search functionality you’d like to see in Planner!

    Thanks,
    The Planner Team

This is something I sorely miss from Trello. We decided to adopt Planner since we "already pay for it" over Trello. As we continue to spin up Plans, however, its difficult to find a particular task without a quick search function.

I think multiple checklists would be great (similar to what you can do with Trello). While it may be bad practice to go crazy with checklists, you can organize particular subtasks by function for the card.

I would also like to add that even just specifying push notifications only instead of both that and email would be great. Planner is too noisy with emails but push notifications and choosing what to receive notifications for would be great.

Ultimately, I do like the Asana-like notifications.

Something I constantly use in Trello and in every possible app I can find. For those looking for a work around, you can use an extension called Markdown Here [https://markdown-here.com] that allows you to write in Markdown Format and then right click the whole window or highlight text and convert accordingly. Native support would be preferred obviously.

Any update on this? Acknowledgement was provided 2 years ago. This would be great for teams that have several bits of small projects to track. Larger projects, I agree, should have separate groups.

This would be extremely useful if you're assigning plans or tasks to an organization

Excited to see the new Planner mobile app. Any plans for a proper iPad app?

Add me to the list of people who are requesting an update. There is no easy way to access a plan on a mobile app. The Teams app will not show it and visiting the web experience isn't always practice nor does it work all. This hampers this product quite a bit and there's no practice reason to use Planner over Trello or Wunderlist.

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for your patience! Since our last update, we’ve released a few features to address the feedback around notifications.

We’ve heard loud and clear that comment notification emails should go to only users who are relevant to a given task. Therefore, we’re excited to announce we’ve updated the integration between Planner and Groups so that users following the group associated to the Planner plan will no longer receive a group email in their personal inbox when comments are made for tasks they have never commented on before. Group emails notifications for all task comments in a plan are still sent to the group mailbox. We believe this behavior should ensure comment notification emails are scoped to a more relevant audience of those who have previously commented on the task instead of being sent to all members of the plan.

Additionally, we’ve added more context to the comment notifications…
