I want a "Convert to Task Planner" button for emails
Most of our tasks come in via email, a simple button to convert it to a planner task would be imperative, otherwise it renders the planner a little bit pointless for us.
As an update, our colleagues in To-Do have delivered the ability to create tasks directly from Outlook.com!
To-Do has rolled out the Tasks Pane for Outlook.com’s Mail & Calendar, and is also the new Tasks for Outlook.com! With Planner’s & To-Do’s integration, we hope that To-Do will become a central hub for all of your personal tasks, and that switching to Planner to collaborate with others is seamless!
Here’s more information on the To-Do’s task experience within Outlook: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/using-microsoft-to-do-with-outlook-com-416865a1-0c4d-4e69-af6f-f98ffce3747c
... on reading the other comments - I like the idea of similar functionality to "Send to OneNote". A "Send to Planner" enabling target plan selection would be a good way to integrate, with the subject email automatically attached to the generated task.
My organisation has disabled Flow as a matter of policy which makes use of the Flow-based widgets impossible for us.
IMO, enabling task creation from an incoming email is an essential integration feature - if we are already expecting Outlook Tasks to be replicated into Planner, this would seem like a logical step anyway.
To start with you could just copy the iGlobe implementation. You have their add-on in your Marketplace.

I would like to be able to forward emails to a plan and have them become tasks. I would also like to be able to add emails to a plan via the web and client UI in a way similar to the how I can flag and set reminders on emails.

Actually it would be nice if added like outlook Actions so when outlook senses an action in the email content should outlook suggest an action to converting it to task in some plan and gives you a choice to convert a whole email or only some high lighted text.

This is a very important feature for GTD-style processing. I am trying to switch from Trello to Planner and the lack of being able to click a button in Outlook to convert an email to a planner task is a big gap.
When processing my inbox, there are often emails that are tasks for later. With Trello I can click a single button in Outlook and be done.

An extension of Flow capabilities could be nice in the context where you want to convert a mail to a task but I'm not convinced this is the case. Mails can come in with several tasks (e.g. meeting action points). I basically want to select, right click - move to Planner and next point to the destination. My mail could contain 5 different tasks, which can move into 5 different boards even. Ideally, I would also like to have context in my mail so when I review it later, I can click through and get to the status in Planner. This surpasses what Flow would be capable of imo.

RJ's Comment on 1/8/2018 sums it up pretty nicely for the assignments. Otherwise, a button similar to the "send to OneNote". This would pop up a dialog allowing you to choose the plan and bucket to drop it in. The information would be copied from the e-mail to the task which then could be edited to refine.

All in all Office 365 would benefit immensely from better integration.
Similar to sending an email to a Teams channel, allow a user to send an email to a Planner bucket. Just add "Get email address" to the ellipses that already exists when you hover over a bucket.
Email Subject = Task Title
Email Body = Task Description
Email Attachments = Task Attachments
When you add an email to Planner through Flow, it's a dead link (I have mine where it adds it when I click the task flag). So, when you're ready to do your task, you have to go back into Outlook and find the original email to get details and information so you can complete your task. Worse when you have a team using it together and they can't see your emails. Planner is so awesome and a game-changer...this is a huge missing piece. Please add this!!!

I would like to see this functionality extended to messages in Teams too. Instead of having to jump into the Planner tab, allow users to quickly add a task to Planner from the message.
The proposal of using Flow does not work as expected. The best possibility using flow is make a task using email subject, but the email's content will be not part of the task. Emails use to have all information that will be needed in task.

this would be a huge help. The flow option doesn't work because of the way it renders the body of the email. It is just a huge garbled mess.
The task should be labled with the Subject of the email. The description should contain the body of the message as it appears in Outlook. Any files attached to the email would be added as attachments to the task.
that's true, most of my tasks come via e-mail. It would be really nice if you could add a task to a planner from Outlook. Maybe with quick steps in outlook, of add in?
Simply put, Flow costs extra after a certain point. An embedded feature is much more user friendly and cost effective.

Hey Planner Team Admin!
Following up on your note about being to do use Flow to integrate email to Planner. Can you make it so planner will render the html to display the contents of the email properly and not just an html output? That would make that option work a whole lot better and actually usable!
I want to drag and drop like I can in outlook for an email to either Calendar or Task. Otherwise, I have to copy/paste to use it...

http://www.apps4.pro/planner-outlook-integration.aspx figured out how to do this. I can't get approval to spend more money for every user in our environment. Please give us a solution that works without having to buy third party products.
agree, its bonkers you can do it for trello....but not for planner!
