Add functionality to link tasks with dependencies. One the upper level task is complete the tasks that are dependent on it would become active and notify those task owners.

This will be a huge help!

Yes, having a primary task with assignable subtasks would make businesses identify choke points in work. I'm surprised this was a request 4 years ago which we're still waiting on.

Please.
Also, custom progress descriptions… (tired of waiting on that one).

Please add subtasks

Definitely needed! Subtasks as child under the parent task will help branch out the independent or rather co-dependent responsibilities.

This will be an excellent idea. This option was available on sharepoint 2010, it will be a great improvement on planner !!

This is really useful for managing a devops type programme. Might be slightly different in that we want to use a serial type number to track. Epic might "We want a great system to deliver xyz" and this is E1 then every User Story below E1 would be E1U1 then actual work items might be E1U1W1. And they are all linked back to the original parent task

Yes, we often have a shared task that one person should do before another starts...
We would like to have a way to indicate the shared task is on the radar even when it is not quite ready for the next person... and conversely would be good to know when something is truly ready/due.

Would be great. Not necessarily one is dependent on the other, but just that two tasks are close to each other and needs to be done at the same time. Then it is good to link those to each other. Especially when you are a team sharing same planner and you have many tasks. And unfortunately don't have access to a real issues/tasks handling system.

It is very silly to not be able to create dependencies in project planning

Good session on the Planner. Thank you for facilitating.

Would be great. Especially with a link of tasks to other plans like asana allows. A story for this, I've found:

Really would be great to have this - several other ideas are on user voice
Important that you can create many to many relationships between tasks that way you can leverage the ability of task by task work with the visualization and reporting capabilities.
Recently used Planner for the Agile EPIC and user story structure linked to Onenote pages for a business requirement session with commercial users - worked well because its simple and does not need them to understand complex tools - at the same time I now have directly a structure that can be extracted and loaded into the real IT tools.
the ability to map the links in a "Mind Map" kind of way however would be a great help in the next steps where we can possibly deliver multiple user stories by delivering 1 IT technical source eg.

Functionality idea like - If one of the task date is changed then it will notify & will open next dependant task likely to be change the date also. This will keep on notifying till the last dependant task.

This functionality is what sets the good task and planning apps apart from the 'also available'. No-one wants to have to set due dates for every task and then have to update a whole plan because one particular task is late. Again, as many people have said this is critical to my decision to invest time in this program.

Yes please, a critical functionality.
will affect my decision whether to migrate from my current program -

Strongly needed. We are currently using workaround ... but if a third party software has this with Planner why not implement it directly (at least parenting to be trackable)...

The more i work with Teams the more i'm missing this functionality
