Timeline view to show schedule
A simple timeline view like SharePoint tasks to facilitate viewing the schedule
We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.
We’ve brought the Planner board view to the new Project! Along with this, you can see your tasks on a Timeline view, and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users.
With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.
Thanks everyone for your patience, I encourage you to check out the new Project, and even start a trial – see the attached GIF for a sneak peak!
The Project and Planner team
Disappointed. I switched from Trello to Planner, I have used Project in the past but I'm not a project manager but a department manager; Planner is the perfect fit. However, if you have Planner just to kill it later, then back to Trello I'll go.
Also very disappointed to see that this feature is moving to project but not planner. Planner is awesome for basic task and project management. Project is too massive for basic project management. And the new “project for web” or whatever it is being called is even worse than both of them. Just give us a scalable timeline view and more checklist items and sub tasks without and it will be a perfect project for non project managers who manage projects.

Very disappointed to see that you're going to roll this into the Project side. Not everyone will have project licenses and some people need a simple timeline view to make the planner tasks more visually consumable on SharePoint in the Planner web part.
Great idea. need this feature to manage tasks on a better horizon (minimum 30 60 90 days)

so... see more than one month at a time horizontally - and then, of course, only in week# buckets. Purpose: macro-planning. Finite planning will then take place in monthly views. Come on! :)
At the moment we use Asana which provides a fantastic timeline solution but would prefer to use a native solution in teams to tie in all our software into a single ecosystem. We would happily move to planner if they added these features into teams. The timeline is too critical an item though not to be required.
A Gantt Chart view of ALL projects.
Also, a timeline with milestones.
I work in Smaller fast paced and Agile Business improvement project. Planner and teams in general has been such a great tool for us. But when i communicate timelines with stakeholders I thoroughly miss the functionality of showing them key milestones in a timeline. The same goes for when we do prioritization of tasks inside the project team: We miss being able to see key milestones and what tasks relate to though milestones as a visual management way of keeping track of progress. Pleas reach out if you want me to show you an example.

Recommend looking at officetimeline.com. That's what I'd like.
really if you create the gantt view and also increase the checklist functionality to have dates and assigned to then you could get plan timeline view. i'm happy to discus further.
Using the topic search there are 263 ideas regarding Gnatt Charts and another 60 on adding hours to a task - these could be rolled into one and used to "tell you more" about the idea.
like in Chart we currently see the members and their number of tasks. Can we also add here the dates when they will finish a certain task?

Essential, much like the timeline view in project with milestones and selected buckets/tasks displayed.
Also needs a web part to show on ANY group page.
Timeline can be viewed as a yearly or quarterly wheel with layers corresponding the buckets
I would also need a Gantt chart view + the possibility to link actions between them ! I was used to SharePoint display which was great and I miss this feature in Planner.
The gant chart view is the only feature we are really missing in your app. We would really love to have the ability to view a timeline of certain project or all projects at once. Also to be able to adjust the timeline by moving, stretching and shorten bars would increase the user acceptance in a massive way.
I second the Gantt Chart view :) Our project manager loves Gantt charts and struggles to switch to Planner as his Project Management software because the GUI isn't very user friendly. I suggested something like a "Summary/Review" tab with a cleaner/simpler GUI but if this is already in the works - awesome!
We would LOVE a Gantt style view. A timeline is really all that's missing from Planner. We make do without it since Planner is included in our 365 licenses, but that's what we really want to be most productive. Otherwise, we're forced to create our own timeline externally, which wastes time.
I agree - it needs to be like Asana's and everything needs to be printable. Otherwise, I will have to resort to using Asana.
i really lack a timeline feature in planner. this would complete our entire Microsoft Teams + Planner envoirement.
