Microsoft Planner - Feedback Forum
Welcome to Planner’s Feedback Forum!
We love your feedback and look forward to hearing from you. Our feedback forum is a great place to post your ideas and vote on your favorites. We can’t promise we’ll build everything, but the product group will review all requests.
How it works
- Create a user account if you want to add a new idea or vote on existing ideas
- Check out the ideas others have suggested and vote on your favorites (as you start entering an idea, a list of similar ideas may show up)
- If you have a idea that’s not listed yet, you can submit your own. Please keep your suggestion to 25 words or less and one idea per post.
Thank you for joining our community and helping improve Office 365 Planner!
Lawyer stuff
Please note that the Planner’s Feedback Forum is moderated and is a voluntary participation-based project. If your submission is not a product feature suggestion it may be removed. Please do not send any novel or patent-able ideas, copyrighted materials, samples or demos which you do not want to grant a license to Microsoft.

Add or Integrate Planner Tasks with a Calendar
Calendar integration. Add tasks and their status on a calendar.
3,436 votesThanks for the feedback on this feature. We are exploring a few options for providing a Calendar/Schedule oriented visualization for Planner tasks.
-
Integration with outlook tasks
New tasks created in Planner should also be seen in outlook
3,149 votesWe’re currently exploring both near term and long term designs for this area.
-
Due date notification
If a task is late (the due date has passed), please make sure to send a notification to both the owner and anyone related to the task (coworkers, team leader,...).

Provide the ability to create Plan templates with existing tasks that can then be used to create a new plan
Rather than having to create every plan from scratch it would be good if the system allowed for the creation of Templates with pre-existing tasks (like in Word/Excel). This would allow a new plan and its tasks to be created from a template saving a lot of time.
2,110 votesHello, thanks for the feedback. This feature is planned on our roadmap. We’ll provide more details as we get closer to starting development.

Subtasks
It would be good if we are able to create a subtask to an existing task.

Easily add Planner Tasks from within Outlook client and Office 365
Emails consume too much time and energy. As an email user I want to only view an email once and should be able to reply/forward to a person or Outlook Group/SharePoint Site, schedule a Planner task, and/or archive the email for future reference.
1,774 votesWe’re thinking about a few approaches for enabling this capability

Email Notifications and Alert Options
OK, so working out loud is good.... to a limit. Please enable settings that reduce the very high spam content currently coming from planner. Not everyone in the group wants to know ever movement on every task. Enable users to subscribe to various types of events on tasks. Hopefully at some time there will be some consistent settings like priority etc, that can be used as user selectable alert filtering.
1,765 votesThanks for all the feedback. We’ve started work on improving the options here.

Gantt chart view
I want to be able to make tasks dependent on other tasks, and see them in a Gantt chart view, similar to TeamGantt.com.

Allow external users to view/edit tasks.
We have sub consultants that we collaborate with on a daily basis. It would be nice to have different levels of permissions to view tasks, edit tasks, and / or create tasks.
1,475 votesWe’re working on supporting this in Office 365 Groups in general. Once that’s complete, we’ll support it in Planner shortly after.

Instead of 1 to 1, allow Groups to have many Plans
Right now, groups have a 1 to 1 relationship (1 Group = 1 Plan), would be nice for a single group to have multiple plans
1,442 votesThanks for all the feedback on this item. We’ve started initial thinking and investigations on possible designs for this feature.

Need due dates to go onto calendar.
A project has a calendar, but that calendar doesn't automatically get due dates placed on it. That's pretty crucial.

Timeline view to show schedule
A simple timeline view like SharePoint tasks to facilitate viewing the schedule
1,177 votesThanks for all the feedback. We’re fans of this feature and are exploring the best way to provide users with a beautiful timeline by default.

Allow Tasks to be moved between Plans/Boards.
Currently you can only move Tasks to different Buckets within a Plan/Board. It would be very useful to be able to also copy or move them to different Plans/Boards that you are a member of.

Task Templates
Allow the creation of "Task Templates", which have a default set of properties (due one week from today, checklist items, assignment, etc.)

Link Planner with Office 365 Tasks
It would be great to have the option to make tasks created in Office 365 Tasks available in Planner

Please link Tasks to Outlook (desktop) and also allow users of MS Project to open them in that.
When a Task is assigned, have Planner sent the email alert in the form of an Outlook Task Request (when the request is Accepted, Deferred, etc.) and it sits in the User's Outlook Task list -- have the ability for them to update progress within MS Outlook (desktop) itself -- and let that update Planner.
(Similar features were available as far back as Outlook 2000 without a centralised server system. Now we have cloud, please bring back these features without worrying about MS Project Server / Online sales -- instead, make those "enterprise level" services...)

I want a "Convert to Task Planner" button for emails
Most of our tasks come in via email, a simple button to convert it to a planner task would be imperative, otherwise it renders the planner a little bit pointless for us.

Add the ability to copy or move a task to a bucket in another plan.
You can currently move a task to another bucket within the same plan but we need to ability to move or copy a task to a bucket that is in a different plan.
