Hello! We wanted to provide an update to our status below. As we announced in our previous status update, our initial integration with To Do was our first step in a journey of bringing all your Microsoft Task Management services closer together, including Outlook and Planner. Through To Do, you can see your Planner tasks within Outlook on the Web.

However, the continuing feedback on this post makes it clear that there is a desire for more work to be done to improve this experience. We want to make sure this feedback and votes aren’t getting lost by being added to this existing post.

Instead, we’d like to make sure you have a forum to express these continuing pain points / desires, and a way to vote for which ones you’d like us to work on first (and how we should prioritize those asks against the many other great asks…

  3. Plans deletion/archive

As I saw that when you delete a Plan all conversations, Groups etc are deleted could be useful to have another Status for that Plans, maybe an "Archived" status, maybe visible in another dashboard or something similar.

We’d love to hear more about the following:
    1. When would you delete or archive a plan?
    2. How long would you like it to be accessible?

Feel free to include any specific scenarios where archiving a plan would be useful.

We appreciate your feedback and look forward to reading through your comments!

    Cheers,
    The Planner Team

Beyond the iCalendar feed, we will continue to explore our options for adding tasks to Outlook Calendar automatically. We would love to hear more of your thoughts on the following:
-What information from tasks would you like to carry over to Outlook Calendar?
-How many different plans would you like to view on your Outlook Calendar?
-Any specific scenarios or examples of how this would fit into your workflow

    Cheers,
    The Planner Team

  6. Please link Tasks to Outlook (desktop) and also allow users of MS Project to open them in that.

When a Task is assigned, have Planner sent the email alert in the form of an Outlook Task Request (when the request is Accepted, Deferred, etc.) and it sits in the User's Outlook Task list -- have the ability for them to update progress within MS Outlook (desktop) itself -- and let that update Planner.

(Similar features were available as far back as Outlook 2000 without a centralised server system. Now we have cloud, please bring back these features without worrying about MS Project Server / Online sales -- instead, make those "enterprise level" services...)

    Hello!

We’ve just released our integration with To-Do as a first step towards a larger task coherence initiative.

Today, you can view and edit Planner tasks you’ve been assigned in To-Do’s new Assigned to me list. This is available on to-do.office.com and To-Do’s Windows, Android, and iOS apps.

Here are more details on this integration: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Planner-Blog/Planner-and-To-Do-integration-bringing-you-a-more-cohesive-task/ba-p/553485

Our work in this area is not done, and we’re relying on you to help us decide what’s next, please keep the suggestions coming!

    Cheers,
    The Planner Team

  10. within the integration with teams, allow @mentions

I like having Planner inside Microsoft Teams. However, it would be nice if we could @mention a team member within the comments on a Planner task and they would get a notification just like the @mention in a Teams channel. We are moving away from the clutter of email, so any additional integration into Teams is a huge plus. I don't want a notification about something I'm working on in Teams to go to my email. It just doesn't make sense anymore.

  11. Add more options to Planner Flow Connectors

Make the Planner Flow connector more robust, such as the ability to attaching a file or updating the details and comments when creating a task. For instance, if you choose to have an incoming email create a task, you should be able to have any attachments added to the task, and the message body entered in details or comments.

  12. wunderlist, planner and outlook tasks should all live in the same world

Wunderlist, Planner and Outlook tasks should all be part of the same app universe and be easily movable and interchangeable weather the user is using the free Wunderlist, a paid Office 365 subscription or Outlook though a classic Office license (non subscription model).

why so many overlapping task management apps from Microsoft?

From the user perspective one can only see advantages in the integration.

  13. Integrate Planner with Excel for mass updating / entry of tasks

when creating a new plan or maintaining a larger plan the data entry is pretty cumbersome. Integrating this with Excel would make this process much easier and allow the plans to scale better in terms of initial start-up time as well as ongoing maintenance.

  14. Integrate with MS Project in O365

Does this interfaces with MS Project? This would be a much better way of creating, assigning, executing, and tracking project tasks as well as non-project/administrative tasks. Also, maybe the time invested in tasks could flow automatically to timesheets. Reducing or removing the time spent maintaining timesheets would be welcome.

  16. Link Planner with JIRA

Our developers drive all of their work in JIRA, whilst project managers manage using a combination of tools like MS Project, Excel and PowerPoint. Life would be much better if Planner could replace the quasi-manual integration using the Project/Excel/PowerPoint toolkit by linking Planner & JIRA and have the ability to pull in information from JIRA automatically.

  19. Logic Flow Connector

Planner entities (Boards/Tasks) should act both as a trigger as well as an action recipient of Logic Flow as well as Azure Logic Apps. This way we can enable workflows integrating with external SaS apps (VSTS the obvious candidate) as well as internally within O365.
Trigger examples: when a Task is closed, when a Task is (re)assigned, when a Task moved to another Bucket, when a Task is created.
Action examples: create a Task, add comment/attachment, move to another Bucket, change Task priority/assignee (or more according to the Roadmap) - essentially whatever can be surfaced through the graph task api.

  20. Make the dates in planner show up on the Calendar.

When you set a task's date in Planner, it should also show up on your calendar. I can't see using Planner if it doesn't integrate into your calendar.
