The creator or all assigned members of a task in Teams should get notifications for comments, progress changes etc
The notifications around Microsoft Teams Tasks do not align with how useful this app can be.. as the creator of a task I want to be notified via email preferably if somebody has commented on the task, made progress, completed etc. If I'm assigned to a collaboration task I also want to be notified when comments are made etc.

I support this in general, but would add that this (and all the notification features I have commented on today) should be something that a person can toggle on/off, ideally based on individual preference not limited to the entire Plan. I understand the OPs request, but fall into the other camp myself...I do not personally want to be bombarded by alerts, but recognize that some people do manage that way.
And as someone noted, the option for alerts to go to a Teams channel chat stream instead of email should be included.

Yes - as I'm the overall Plan Manager, I need to know if people have made updates/changes. Even though there is a notification, I have no idea who made the changes or what/

I also agree - But in my case our company is trying to reduce inter office emails and I would like notifications to be via teams. Not only for the creator but for those who are tasked. Can we get setting for both Teams and Email.

I agree with this - I assign a lot of tasks to participants in a project that I run, and currently I need to manually check on the task status to see if each individual task has been completed. It would be hugely time saving for me if I could get an email alert whenever a task was completed (or other change made).
