Copy Plan to Existing Group
The ability to copy a Plan was recently released (see link below) but this only provides the ability to copy a plan to a new O365 Group. It does not provide the ability to copy a plan to an existing O365 Group. Most people do not want to create a new O365 Group for every Plan they have (Group sprawl). Please offer an option when copying a Plan to either target an existing Group or a new Group based on your preference.

Hi everyone,
We have updated our Copy Plan experience – please try it out today!
This improvement includes the ability to choose an existing group or team to copy the plan into (or choose to create a new group). You’ll also be able to customize what gets copied over. Attachments can only be copied over into existing groups/teams.
You can get more details here – https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/planner-blog/expanding-the-copy-plan-and-filtering-features-based-on-your/ba-p/1483491

Yes, I've been breaking my brain on how to copy an entire plan to the same group.
Option 1. Manually select to copy a task in its attribute to an existing group. Create the buckets and distribute accordingly.
Option 2. Use Planner excel download using Automate is fickle and copies buckets and tasks, but none of the details like checklists, assignees, etc. -

Project management is based on frame work and structures such as being able to copy plans and tasks from one project to another. Needed!

Office 365 is supposed to be all about efficiency but without this function, it is like we are back 10 years ago again.

Until I can copy a plan and assign it to an already existing Group (Team), Planner is not usable or useful to my department. Due to the way permissions are set up at my organization (restricting new Group creation), I cannot copy a Plan at all until this issue is addressed.

Still needs this!

Surprised something so simple as this was left out. Creates a whole lot of manual work to roll tasks from one month into the next. What good is a 'move task' functionality with a drop down for 'plan name' if you can only move it within that same plan?

I have a temporary workaround using Power Automate described here:

This seems like such basic functionality - so typical of Microsoft. They almost get you there but not really....The user should be able to decide where to copy the plan to and if the policy is setup not to allow a new group then an existing group should be able to be selected.

Why is this not a thing yet? It's ridiculous that copying a plan as a template creates a new group?

THIS IS BEYOND PAINFUL! So disappointed in this not being built out.

The fact this doesnt exist is a shocker! Is it just me or is this software half baked/still in beta?

I wish I'd found this forum BEFORE spending an hour trying to figure out why my brain wasn't getting this... Once I figured out that the "copy plan" feature was only available through the web platform (don't ask why it took me so long), I had a mini-celebration then wondered what in the heck I would do with a copied plan that can't go anywhere except in Planner. It seems like, if you can use an existing planner tab to add to a new tab within a team... it can't be too far in the future we can all get what we are asking for. Now I have no reason to use this other than for meetings where people don't use Skype. I really hope this feature is added soon!!!

Why is it not possible to copy tasks to an existing team !?

I have spent considerable hours trying to make Microsoft Teams and Planner work and getting detailed task lists set up for my team to reuse for each project. Now I find out that plans cannot be copied into another team or Chanel. What is the point? I will be canceling my subscription due to this.

I find it a bit odd that "Copy plan" and "Create new" don't have the same flexibility/functionality. Please, add this.

yes, we are trying to use Planner as our Year-at-a-Glance task plan with all of the things that folks on our team need to be prompted to do on a cyclical basis throughout any given year. It would be ideal if we could Copy the current year’s plan and update it for the coming year. (but with the same people assigned, within the same Buckets, and within the same group that already exists).
need ASAP.

This feature is a must have, especially within MS teams. I am urgently awaiting an update on this.

This is something that would be very helpful to users who create repetitive plans with similar tasks across plans/teams. Please add this feature both in the Planner web app and in Teams. Would like to copy entire plans as well as buckets to a new plan.
