Copy Plan to Existing Group
The ability to copy a Plan was recently released (see link below) but this only provides the ability to copy a plan to a new O365 Group. It does not provide the ability to copy a plan to an existing O365 Group. Most people do not want to create a new O365 Group for every Plan they have (Group sprawl). Please offer an option when copying a Plan to either target an existing Group or a new Group based on your preference.

Hi everyone,
We have updated our Copy Plan experience – please try it out today!
This improvement includes the ability to choose an existing group or team to copy the plan into (or choose to create a new group). You’ll also be able to customize what gets copied over. Attachments can only be copied over into existing groups/teams.
You can get more details here – https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/planner-blog/expanding-the-copy-plan-and-filtering-features-based-on-your/ba-p/1483491

Totally agree with @Jan_Paul_Louw. It would be amazing if you can copy a plan to a specific chanel not just under the General (chanel).

The need is to copy a plan to a specific channel. For instance you create your plan under General (channel) under a specific Group, and it is then copied to the other channels in the Group. This functionality will increase the usability of Teams and Planner

We need to be able to copy a plan to a channel. The current functionality only copies to a Group. In my case I have multiple channels under one master group. Each channel needs to have the plan template copied to it though. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Please work on a fix as stated for existing groups, we disable group creation and have a request process.

It would be neat if copying a plan to an existing group wouldn't require the permission to create Teams/Groups. In our company the permission to create groups/teams is deactivated, the management doesn't wish possible cluttering.
Please consider to separate copying a plan to an existing group from the required permission to create a new team/group

The sad thing is that we are losing track of the tast. Responsibles and progress, meaning if the tast is already compleated...

Is it possible to include 'Assigned To' as an option to copy over.

It is great that we can now copy plans within an existing Team, however it is possible to copy a plan to another channel (within the same team)? We would like to create a template plan to use for events across different channels.

Yeah, same issue as everyone else regarding locked group creation. Now we can't even copy a plan at all. Please fix

This does not work if Admin has blocked for creation of new Groups...even if you're not targeting a new Group at all. The whole feature is intended to copy to EXISTING Groups... So what is going on?

I have created a new User Voice for plan copying when User creation of new groups is disabled.

While copying a plan, I do not get an option to use an existing group or new group? Anything to do with O365 version?

We need to be able to copy the plan to an existing group EVEN IF we do not have permissions to create Groups. I was expecting this update for our users that are not allowed to create groups.
Instead of being denied access to the copy form, they should be restricted to existing Plans (Group).

As of this morning, even after checking for updates, the only option I see at the three dots "..." in the upper right corner of each Planner are "copy link to tab" and "about this tab".
Will there be any documentation provided on how to update and how this works? The link above doesn't seem to help either.
We will still likely need to copy/move them to another Team which sounds like that isn't what you're working on for this.

Will it be possible to copy a plan into an existing Group but while having the Admin option to create a new Plan / Group turned off?
Our admins don't want a lot of groups created through the creation of new plans but the ability to copy in existing groups would help us here.
Thank you

With this new feature users are not able to copy a Plan to an existing Group, if they don't have permissions to creaste Groups. Our Users want to use this feature, but they don't able to create Groups.
