Email notifications for Guest users
Guest users should be notified by e-mail for any new assignments, due dates and late tasks. At the moment, only Members and Owners receive reminders for assigned tasks.
When a task is assigned to a guest, they should receive an e-mail with the information sent to their e-mail address outside of the Office 365 tenant.
Reminders sent to the guest's e-mail address
Updates to the task sent to the guest's e-mail address.

Email notifications to guests should be an essential part of planner needs to be sorted ASAP

I strongly desire this "e-mail notification" function .

I find this to be something that needs to be included ASAP. There are many business models that work with others as guests. The inability for the guest to receive notifications on a project is very limiting for flow of information and efficiency. I agree with many in the comments to allow guests to be receiving notifications. Why else include them otherwise?

The limitation for guests is very poor. The collaborative element is rendered useless and we now need to rely on manual processes for suppliers to remember to look in Planner.

Renders the application pointless.
Guests need to be notified of new tasks.
Email is the very least that one requires.
Ideally, guest users should also be able to access their tasks via the planner mobile app. However this is also only reserved for office 365 tenants.Extremely dissapointed is an understatement!!

I discovered this limitation 10 minutes before I demoed the tool to a mixed group of internal and external people. That left a pretty big hole in my sales pitch....

Can we please enable Notifications on when tasks is assigned to guest users in Teams, or can someone provide me a step by step to use Microsoft Flow to enable notifications to guest emails accounts

This is a must... why have an option of assigning tasks to external users if they are not notified on new tasks. Also, it seems the tasks I assign to my external users do not turn up in their "my task" page! In Teams they can access the page by switching to the guest account.. Planner must be updated for it to remain relevant.

Planner is useless unless MS fixes this. The whole point of collaboration tools is to be able to reach a wide breadth of co-workers, suppliers and external companies. I have to say, MS needs to re-think how businesses actually operate. They are behind the gate on this one.

If Teams / Planner should become THE collaboration-tool, guests must have the same amenities and features at their disposal like internal users!

This is a MUST feature...

I need this feature as well. I have enabled external notifications for the underlying group in Office 365 and that works, but no external users are getting e-mails from planner. This severely limits its usefulness as a tool.

Was about to roll out Teams/Planner to my clients and then became aware of this. I've now had to back to using Trello.

Please have a very very good look how Trello is working and copy

I really don't understand why this is not possible. This makes Microsoft Planner almost impossible to use as a comapny always works with external vendors!!

Without this functionality cooperation on the project is impossible
