The ability to assign individual checklist items and designate a due date within a task leading up to the overall task due date.
A task has a due date, but within the task the checklist items can also have their own due date and assigned group member to complete all needs before the actual task due date.
This would be GREAT!! I've used this in Trello a lot and am trying to switch all of my group's projects to Planner, but missing this feature is a hinderance.

YES!!!!! Please! And if possible, when multiple people are assigned, a way for a participant to initial off when he or she is the one who completed that checklist item. And all to be date stamped! This way it doesn't look like a process that took weeks got knocked out in one day. Please!

and Option to Follow up task if you're not actually assigned to it but needs to get updates !

You are creating new Plan with different tasks. Every task has due date for example 2 weeks after plans due time? And if you set new plan for different time, tasks will automatically change due date for new time?
Also, email notifications will be sent to the group member assigned to the checklist item on the due date :)
