more notification options
There are currently only two options for notifications.
Please separate the late notifications, due today notifications, due in next 7 days notifications. Look at adding other options as well (one notification 3 working days in advance of the due date, one notification every week after the due date)

We need to separate notification for group and notification when a task is marked as closed.

More flexibility in when notifications start and how often they are sent. Beginning notifications 7 days in advanced is sometimes not really needed.

I like the suggestion of "one notification 3 working days in advance" but, I'd like to take it a step farther and suggest custom boxes you can fill in. "X notification every X days" ahead of the due date where you can enter your own custom values, even zeros. Something like no notifications unless it's past due.

I have issues with the notifications. I would prefer to see them passed through the activity on teams or an alert in the app, but for now an email is ok.
I would like to see more flexibility in the emails sent and when.
I personally would want an email on days of my choosing, at a time of my choosing, with tasks due that day. or summarizing everything due in the next week, or with everything that is late.
ie, i would on monday at 8:30 am get an email with everything due in the next week, and everything that is past due. then on tuesday through friday at 8:30 am, an email with what is due that day.
I also want the ability to not get emails on the weekend.

What about making these options configurable?
Different switches for email, Teams, etc. -

Would be nice to have a notification to the people assigned to the task if anything has changed, like a check list item, attachment added, comment, etc.

It would also be great to have some default notification options based on some sort of task importance indicator.

Instead of emails - it would be great to incorporate notifications as part of planner tool. For instance, when I log in, it would be great to see a signal on the task itself that a new comment has been made, a new file uploaded, etc. Even if it was similar to your phone where you just see a red circle with a number in it. The number letting you know how many new things are in there. If we had that, it would keep us in the tool and out of email all together.
