Allow attachments to be copied when a task is copied to a different plan.
There was previously a request to "allow tasks to be MOVED between plans" that had 4,266 votes. This was recently marked complete when a copy functionality was released. However, copying a task to a different plan is not the same as moving it. The limitation in the implementation of "copy task" is that attachments are not copied when the task is copied. If a task has an attachment, that attachment is likely critical for completion of the task, so not allowing it to be copied is a problem.
Ugh, I just wasted many hours creating a template with documents & links as attachments, because I couldn't create hyperlinks in the notes (without the full URL which get rather long) or checklist tasks. Attachments need to be copied to the new plan and your entire experience for links needs to be re-thought and improved.
Guys, how on earth has this not been added after 2 years. Crucial feature for everyone trying to use a Plan as a template! Let's go!
We put our corrective actions traceability system in a channel of Teams and tried to used the Planner, adding tasks for create every new corrective action document. When you copy the main task with template attachment (template task), the attachment doesn't duplicate and rename itself. This is a true heartache because the attachment of the copied task could be infinitely modified for every people who have assigned to different tasks. We've discovered this issue recently, when 5 people copied tasks from a "template task" with a "template attachment" (in order to create their own tasks) and the content of attachment was modified and erased 5 times.
Please, develop the functionality that allows automatically duplicate and rename the attachments of a "master task" that's is copied to a new one task, in order to not overwrite the original documents attached.
I have to agree with everyone. Having attachments saves a lot of time for those working in the planner in comparison for searching Sharepoint for the docs they need. As others have stated, attachments need to be manually added back to the tasks eating up a lot of hours in the day/week. Lastly, curious as to why this is taking two years to resolve?
I agree that copying my plan is nearly useless without being able to carry over my attachments. The entire reason why I made a template plan to begin with was so I didn't have to sit an upload my documents over and over again each time. I feel like I wasted 3 hours of my time at least now that I know that I don't have this functionality. Once again it pushes me towards other programs such as Asana, etc.
Agreed, have a huge business use for this right now and without this function the Planner is pretty much useless for the task
I was facing this problem too! It would be amazing to have this feature enabled. Now I have to copy each attachement to the new plans - and there are plenty..
Thank you so much for considering this in your next updates :)

This is the part that was missed when COPY was introduced ;-)
Please add this functionality!

I would LOVE to have this functionality enabled.
agree - such a great tool and would it save lots of rework to reattach links and documents to templated tasks for teams.

This is an old task but it needs more votes.
Being able to Copy Tasks from Plan to Plan allows us to be able to save time. Personally, I would use this function to create templates. As a PM, it would be amazing take previous tasks and update them to new plans. By pulling more tasks from previous Projects allows for a faster streamlined project map that will lead into an integrated Work Breakdown Structure.
I understand that "in theory" new plans should require new tasks, but when standardizing our production efforts, making a solid interactive WBS is imperative to keeping the team focused and energized.

We're spending about 20 hours per week re-attaching files to plan copies. It would be simply wonderful to be able to include attachments when copying plans.
I use a planner for new employees to give them some information and tasks for their start in our company. To do so, we created a template with task for starters. With the attachment, we give them more information on different tasks, for example we link to a document or sharepoint site and wiki.
As this attachment/links are not copied, there is a lot of manual work to do to add them again.

I agree, Also comments on a task are not copied, this also need to be addressed before the feature can be used to “move” a task between plans. Everything regarding a task needs to be copied if this feature should be used to move tasks.
But it’s a great feature none the less, I use it to copy template tasks to new plans.

Agreed. We have a lot of attachments on our tasks and having to copy the task, then download all the files to then 're-attach' them, is painful and time consuming.
