Assign Task Lead
The ability to assign a task to multiple people is a big improvement. BUT, we'd like to be able to designate a primary responsible (ie. a task lead.)

This is really important to us, we have to use the free text field which is a pain to grab as data for reporting. I've had to work around by capturing in MS project and using the join between the two data sets, but it is not complete as we dont schedule our program tasks

totally agree - key requirement

Yes I support this ideal and the ability to assign people to tasks who need to be kept informed of the progress of a task but have no responsibility for the task.

This fuction is severly lacking. Please address it soon. Many other programs have this feature.

Got asked the question when things are not getting actioned because there is no way to identify the lead, please can this be put in place. Its possible to identify owners of Teams so not sure why this is so difficult to get done?

We need to be able to differentiate between the persons/persons responsible for a task and those who are interested followers. This is a big downside in Planner and leads to confusion or the need to build work-arounds.

Surprised Planner doesn't offer such a basic feature. adding followers to tasks is helpful for everyone involved.
Please ADD!

Yes, yes, yes!! This is one of the two biggest deficiencies for Planner for our team (the other being the inability to post screen shots into comments to provide feedback to our development team).
There is currently no way for a person to answer the single most important question of being on a Team and having tasks to do: "What am I responsible for?" there is no way to see that, because tasks can have multiple "assignees" with no distinction for the actual task OWNER (or "Task Lead" as the poster called it). It would seem this might even be the single most important feature of any sort of Planner/Project management tool.
Vital to provide an "Owner" role separate from a "Follower", "Watcher", or "Observer" notification role.

to assign task to a team is nice but sometimes one has the lead which should be shown in the chart accordingly ...otherwise the chart cannot be used in the right way

This would be so helpful!

It would be great if we could set a task leader with task members. Multiple owner is good but it causes irresponsibility.

My team agrees

Any progress on this requirement to identify an owner to a task.. Planner is great yet if it's trying to be a project management tool there should be some kind of flags/indicators for the lead. Just an idea but couldn't it be a small indicator on the task member

Wonderful idea - will work great for Managers or team leads

Fully agree, unfortunately there are too many different user voices for the same idea and I fear it does not get heard:

Hey,
we have the same requirement. We need to 1) assign one leader (including an option to change the leader), who drives the tasks and 2) other members to whom the leader can delegate work to (or sees who is also involved). The actual situation leads to the problem, that none of the assigned members feel responsible for the task and wait for others to act. The tasks get overdue and may fail (or have to be extended).
Our workaround is the assignment of one single person. As soon as the lead changes, the old owner is removed and a new one is added. Maybe several times ...
This is far from ideal.Best regards
Marc
