Add the ability to create at least 1 additional swimlane within a board.
Buckets are good, but being able to incorporate an additional "High Priority Swimlane" that spans across the various buckets will make it much easier to identify and track critical work items.
Having swimlanes in Planner would make a huge difference! Ideally, we would like to have swimlanes for each label or owner. This way, we could add each project name or responsibility area as a label and then see the swimlanes for each project, as well as the buckets within each project, all in a single view. We could also pivot to have a swimlane for each owner and show all of the tasks in each of their buckets, again, all in a single view. Please make it happen!
Microsoft Azure boards have swimlanes. Why couldn't planner incorporate something similar?

This idea was created back in 2017 - has there been any progress? This is an essential "deal breaker" to the use of MS Planner over Trello and Jira.
Agreed could certainly do with this to enable steam lining views
If we don't have this feature, people will stay on Jira on Trello. those tools have already this functionality for a while
This is one of the main criteria of using MS planner. We are planning to change from another Kanban tool to MS planner but without this feature our people will not take it as most of them are used to swimlanes for each person (better visualization).
I defenetly vote for this feature. It would be ideal that you could choose the source for the swimlanes and columns (buckets, priority, labels, plans).
I am craving this feature, until then I will stick to JIRA.
Very important feature for complex boards. Our company is using two other tools which has swimlanes. Acceptance for planner will be increased much more (big company with more than 300.000 workers).
Yep would really compete with Jira Kanban with this enhancement

I would love to have this feature.
This would be a good feature.
I concur! In fact I was looking for a way to do this because i thought I was just missing the steps.

In addition to the existing group by for the columns, a second group by for rows (or swimlanes) would be helpful, especially in combination with a task priority.
Hi there, we terribly miss this feature as well!
I found several ideas concerning swim lanes / rows, e.g.:
How about merging them in order to combine the votes and increase the incfluence?

currently using 3rd party addon - would love to use the native planner app
I totally agree. It would make Planner capable of handling more complex projects. Without swimlanes I feel I am not fully able to coordinate cross-functional groups of more than five.
Pretty please, add swimlanes. We need them.

The ability to add bucket-specific swimlanes, and/or global swimlanes, would be very helpful

This is more the 'swimlane' idea where I would like to be able to see, e.g. in the columns the progress, and in the rows the buckets (e.g. topics) or assigned to, to understand better resourcing conflicts (too much to do for one person) or how are we progressing on specific topics (projects = buckets/labels) given resource constraints. This is more for project or team managers as users.
Agree. A swimlane method to differentiate work is needed or Planner is just another way to have lists.
