Create a Plan without creating an Office Group
I like using the Planner as a personal tool to simply manage my day-to-day tasks - I like the kanban Trello-esque visual way of doing this. I don't, however, need the sharing capabilities and therefore all the associated 365 group stuff created in the background is superflous. It would be good to simply have an "individual" Plan and not have it create a 365 group. It just feels like there will be whole lot of chaos will ensue with people creating all sorts of groups like "My Plan", "Test Plan" etc.
Dear Planner users, Planner is looking to learn your experience with managing “personal tasks”. The feedback you provide would help the product to optimize the features toward your needs, and would benefit other users who use the product like you.
We’d very much appreciate if you could take 7-10 mins to fill out this survey. Thank you!
Need this without all the other O365 Group stuff.
One up, we would like to have this too.
Sadly I would like to get my co-worker to use planner but the fact that we cannot create subplans as IT has, wisely, disabled groups creation makes it a no no...I have no idea who can use it with such a limitation.
Please add the functionallity, creating IT is getting too much requests and I just want to create a board just like I do in Trello and start inviting who I need on the mini project.
Agree with the above. The problem with creating an extra group/team for every plan is more than "it 's superflous" - if I put my planner tasks into such a plan, then all the other members of the team/group can see them. I want to write my tasks freely and informally without being careful who will read what.
Anything on this one?
Instead of creating an O365 group, why can't this just be included in OneDrive for Business? Personal plans shouldn't be their own group. I understand the back-end logistics must be complicated, but this is an important feature for your customers!
I don't understand why after 2 years this is still an issue? SMH
This is absolutely needed. You shouldn't have to be in a team to use Planner
Can anyone from Microsoft provide a update as to whether or not this is possible ?
Unable to use Planner because of this
It's too bad we can't use planner without being member of a team. I could be very usefull to have it accessible directly.

We can't use planner at this moment because of the creation of groups. Users in the organisation would like to user planner but for now we need to sell "No" to them,. It should be an option to create a planner with or without the creation of a group.
Groups are also SharePoint modern sites and that's where planner goes. However you can add multiple plans to the same site (group) so that you could just have one group called plans and add all your plans to that. There is now an option in the ui under New Plan to add it to an existing group without the need to modify the site in SharePoint yourself.
it is done?
Sorry, not working for us.
I can not create a plan, we have disabled group creation for users.
I am seeing inforimation which says "this is implemented" but it does not work for us.

Agreed this makes Planner a non-starter in our environment. Its bad enough that BI workspaces, modern team sites, msoft team sites all create o365 groups we dont need it for everything. We had to disable 365 group creation because within a week or two we had over 100 o365 groups called Johns Test, Mikes Test plan, Joes Team Test etc etc. It is a sprawl and governance nightmare, not to mention highly confusing for the end user.
I cannot use Planner without this feature.
Why not change this so that it stores in our OneDrive? For large organizations, having a bunch of "my plans" is very messy.
This has been here since June 2017. Please fix this plan turns group thing.
This is greatly needed. Sometimes I want to have an individual plan or even a shared plan but don't need the group calendar, notebook, site etc. So now we just have a bunch of ghost groups that are only using the Planner feature.
