Move a Plan from one Group to different Group/Team
As there is not control of the creation of Plans/Groups/Teams
sometimes a dupicate group or team or plan gets created and the ability to move these plans to a different group (the correct one) is essential.
Our situation is this:
One team member has created a Team, another created a Group.
staff has used the planner from the group but some how used everything else from the team, (channels, site, files, notebook).
We want to move the planner that is attached to the Group and move it to the one with the Team. Then remove the duplicate group.
A workaround for this is that we’re currently rolling out improvements to the Copy Plan experience.
This improvement will include the ability to choose an existing group or team to copy the plan into. You’ll also be able to customize what gets copied over.
I will share another update when this is available to everyone through Planner’s web experience. Please let me know if this unblocks your scenario.
You guys seriously need to implement a way to change what security group owns a plan. It has to be a very simple fix. Copy is only a crude workaround and wont work if there are attachments which I'd imagine almost any plan would.
need to move a plan fromm one group to another as well
This is an invaluable feature. My one issue is that it does not allow me to copy attachments when I am copying to a planner outside of the team. I assume this has to do where the file sits in Sharepoint but it is a key issue when all of your attachments get lost.
You can "copy" the template into another group by going to "copy" in the template/project and then it will give you option of which group you want to copy it into.
The need to assign a Plan to another Group and delete the relation of the Plan to the previous Group is there! We need to be able to do this.

Same with a single card into another planner in another Group please!

Imagine, if you will, that you perform similar projects with different groups or clients. Imagine if you wanted to make a template for that project that you can copy to a new group whenever you need to perform that same project. Microsoft Planner says, "Nah. You can build it from scratch. That's not a waste of time that project management is supposed to solve."
It's also a little silly that you can't move a plan from a team (which for some reason does not allow file attachments in Planner) to the group the team is inherently associated with (which for some reason does allow file attachments in Planner).
My situation is the EXACT same as OP describes. If we can copy singular tasks (albeit with limited info) across Groups, then we should be able to do the same with for entire Plans.
A crude way to solve the problem is to create a Website tab within the Team where you want the plan and use the link from the team with the plan. The plan will be in 2 places but at least you can edit it in both.
can't believe that it is still not possible!?

This is a basic need to be able to move a plan around to another group. Very disappointing to hear this feature is not available.

It is amazing to see that such a needed feature is not available and I really hope Microsoft works on this and get it out asap.

How is it possible that you copy a plan an it creates a new group automatically by itselft named "CopyOfGroupBlaBlabla"? you cant choose a name, you cant choose where to place it. I would even like to move a plan not just to copy to another group or even to a channel in teams.
Microsoft we really need simplicity, we need things that just works. Why every little thing we need to do in office 365 is so complex or impossible? Great tools but poor management experience.
This is a simple and logical request and I see its been asked since 2017, but there is no response, this is so basic that I cant believe its not available since the first day that the service was released.
after starting using Teams big time it gives us a lot of challenges that all our plans has been added with different Office 365 Groups - we need to be able to change the Office 365 Group on a Plan in Planner - Eg we cannot see documents in Teams on the different Plans in Planner due to Wrong Office 365 Groups - Please add this feature!
I've found threads from a year ago requesting the ability to copy a plan within an existing group, but for the life of me I cannot figure out if this has been implemented and, if so, how to do it. This is hard to believe.
