Move a Plan from one Group to different Group/Team
As there is not control of the creation of Plans/Groups/Teams
sometimes a dupicate group or team or plan gets created and the ability to move these plans to a different group (the correct one) is essential.
Our situation is this:
One team member has created a Team, another created a Group.
staff has used the planner from the group but some how used everything else from the team, (channels, site, files, notebook).
We want to move the planner that is attached to the Group and move it to the one with the Team. Then remove the duplicate group.
A workaround for this is that we’re currently rolling out improvements to the Copy Plan experience.
This improvement will include the ability to choose an existing group or team to copy the plan into. You’ll also be able to customize what gets copied over.
I will share another update when this is available to everyone through Planner’s web experience. Please let me know if this unblocks your scenario.
We really need this, at least the owners to have the possibility to move a plan to another group/Teams without losing attachments and assign people. Or add that option in the customization.
How is the implementation of this coming along ?
I'm particularly interested in being able to move plans between groups, so I can add links to docs in SharePoint. At the moment the docs are in a different SharePoint group.
Would be great if it was task-level permission for a single task that is jointly showing between one planner group/board to another... e.g. one task in my personal planner is assigned to Ted, he then sees that one task in his board and can update it + confirm it's done but not have it disappear from my board. Delegation tracker of sorts. Assign to another team member in another plan, they see it, mark it ready for review, and then we discuss to confirm if it's accepted as complete.
Any update on this one past partially complete?
Waiting for this to get implemented!!
You guys seriously need to implement a way to change what security group owns a plan. It has to be a very simple fix. Copy is only a crude workaround and wont work if there are attachments which I'd imagine almost any plan would.
need to move a plan fromm one group to another as well
This is an invaluable feature. My one issue is that it does not allow me to copy attachments when I am copying to a planner outside of the team. I assume this has to do where the file sits in Sharepoint but it is a key issue when all of your attachments get lost.
You can "copy" the template into another group by going to "copy" in the template/project and then it will give you option of which group you want to copy it into.
The need to assign a Plan to another Group and delete the relation of the Plan to the previous Group is there! We need to be able to do this.

Also waiting! Tks!
Same with a single card into another planner in another Group please!

Imagine, if you will, that you perform similar projects with different groups or clients. Imagine if you wanted to make a template for that project that you can copy to a new group whenever you need to perform that same project. Microsoft Planner says, "Nah. You can build it from scratch. That's not a waste of time that project management is supposed to solve."
It's also a little silly that you can't move a plan from a team (which for some reason does not allow file attachments in Planner) to the group the team is inherently associated with (which for some reason does allow file attachments in Planner).
My situation is the EXACT same as OP describes. If we can copy singular tasks (albeit with limited info) across Groups, then we should be able to do the same with for entire Plans.
A crude way to solve the problem is to create a Website tab within the Team where you want the plan and use the link from the team with the plan. The plan will be in 2 places but at least you can edit it in both.
can't believe that it is still not possible!?

This is a basic need to be able to move a plan around to another group. Very disappointing to hear this feature is not available.

It is amazing to see that such a needed feature is not available and I really hope Microsoft works on this and get it out asap.
