How can we make Planner better?

Allow Complete Task per assigned person

Whilst the new feature of assigning tasks to more than one person is excellent there still needs to be a way for each person assigned the task to assign the status as it relates to them. Otherwise, a task with multiple parts or people assigned to it cannot indicate their part in the completion.

    I agree and would vote for this improvement. It would save a lot of time and effort setting up individual tasks

    I see that the Microsoft To-Do App now has Steps. I believe this is a good "step" in the right direction. These "Steps", aka checklist items should work as a sub-task, that can be assigned and "ticked" off individually by the assigned person, and then sending a status update to the defined Project manager. There seems to be a fitting uservoice request already - please vote!

    Was so excited to get Teams and be able to add this. How disappointing it was to find out that I could not assign a task to multiple users. I too need to track a single task and ensure it is completed by multiple users. In the past this was done with a please reply email... not optimal. MS, how is this not an obvious need.

    Yes, it's great we can assign multiple people to a task but not great that only one marks it complete, regardless of whether or not the rest have completed it as well.

    If Planner had this feature its use in our process development process would be a slam dunk. Without it, we need to explore alternatives which in turn limits the value of Teams as the one stop shop for this kind of work. Please @microsoft, how many votes do we need? Someone click the "like" button and get this suggestion onto the For You page! (Woops, wrong app but you get the picture).

    This has come up a few times in my organisation. Use cases include trainers who are running courses on Teams and wanted to use Planner to assign and track tasks that should be completed by all their students; or in organisational teams which have generic tasks that should be completed by all team members (i.e. Submit holiday requests, submit development targets etc.)

    As a Project Manager, this really needs to be implemented. Without this, it is "not fit for purpose" as a Task management tool.

    The main use of Planner in our org is via Teams. The Team manager wants to set one task, e.g. "Complete training" and then all team members can tick it off when they complete it individually. The manager can then see how many have done it and who needs to be chased!

    This would be very helpful where team members have different responsibilities under the same task. Using a checklist within the task is helpful, but users are able to check off other users' checklist items under the task

    Regularly, we have tasks for the entire team, that everyone has to do. How can you expect the manager to make a separate task for everyone if the team is 20+ people?

    I have been following this request for some time now: there's more support, but no ms reaction.
    @microsoft, any update on this?

    This functionality is definitely needed for those who manage very large teams. Being able to assign one task to multiple users for individual completion such as a submit expense reports and have each team member complete their own would definitely be useful instead of a checklist that can be modified by any individual.

    We are in a situation right now with a new user trying to set up a plan and assign task to multiple people for them to complete individually. This is needed.

    The amount of votes on this proposal might be artificially low, because there are at least 10 improvement proposals in this database which ask for the same. I you are a user and have voted on something similar before, why don't you add your vote also to this item, so that MS can understand the real magnitude of the demand...

    In our team, this gap, plus the limits on assigned users and total amount of tasks, disqualifies Planner for enterprise-level use.
