Assign or change assignment for multiple tasks at once
Assigning more than one task to the same person is cumbersome as you must open each task individually. As a task creator or editor, I'd like to be able to select more than one task and assign or change assignment.

This feature now works. If you are using Teams, go to the 'List' view. From there you can select multiple tasks by holding down the shift or ctrl key. Then you can select Progress, Assign, Priority, Due Date, and Bucket at the top to bulk update.

There are a couple of ideas in this thread related to the same issue. Bulk edit is a great idea, and a nice tweak would be to be able to assign all tasks in a plan to an individual.

This is an issue and I one hundred and second this proposal.
Easy task you'd think? We have about 30 tasks to go into the immediate backlog.
- I want to give them the same due date.
- I want to assign about half to me on my own, then various combinations
- I want to change the priority on severalDoing this manually today was a chooooooooore.
Pretty basic functionality request.

Hello all. I found this thread and I agree, we need the ability to mass edit tasks for users via the GUI. IF you have a bucket with 50 tasks, that takes a while. I know about the PS ability but I'd rather have a GUI and take an "oops" out of the equation. This would make planner just about perfect

100% agree with the need to be able to mass assign. We use our Planners as yearly task lists, that we need to copy year to year. With a team of 10, and extensive task lists, having to update the new Planner with all new assignments is extremely cumbersome and inefficient!

You added copy plan. thank you for that. However, when you have to click on 300 cards to assign task to the person taking on the new project, it defeats the purpose. Please add bulk task assignments per user.

A work around this is, to assign one task to each member and then go to boards view, filter by 'assigned to', then drag and drop the remaining tasks to each member.

Need this feature urgently if it is to be used as a serious tool. Very cumbersome right now.

This would be extremely helpful. Since assignments are not transferred when tasks or plans are copied, this would be huge.

Any update on this? I'm currently using Microsoft Planner for a fairly large migration project towards Microsoft cloud and would like to select multiple tasks for bulk edit (task owner, due date, etc). However this is not possible from browser or Teams. Can this feature be added?

Totally agree. I have a tonne of unassigned tasks I need to assign to one person. Should be able to 1. Select multiple tasks (tick box) > 2. Bulk edit > 3. Assign user

I would add that bulk task management is needed, not only for user assignments, but things like setting statuses, start/end dates... etc.

It would be nice. This is a feature we had on prior planning software.

Yes, please. Not sure why everyone's jumping on this now (according to post dates).

Same as below -- assigning the same task to a list of people where each one is responsible for their own completion of the task is EXTREMELY tedious.

Yep, same.

I agree. I am taking over from a colleague who has over 50 tasks assigned. To have to do this 50 times is very tedious and time-consuming.

Maybe it is possible to say that one person is assigned to a task as standard for a plan or board.
It should be possible to have this set up.
I sometimes use a plan for myself, so i have to assign each task to myself. If I would have a set-up that all new tasks are assigned to me, that would make it a lot easier. -

Assigning multiple tasks to a person is indeed tedious. I also like what Anonymous said above on November 15th, 2017.

I would also specifically like to unassign or reassign everything in a plan or more importantly in a bucket. If a team member Is replaced with someone else you need to move all person A's assignments to Person B. If a project is put on hold, there should be an easier way to "unassigned" everything in the plan or bucket, or to somehow have that now show up on their task list.
