Remove 250 task limit per person per plan.
Currently, there is a 250 task limit per person per plan. The error states “You've run out of space! Delete some old tasks and projects to continue creating new ones.” Removing completed tasks defeats the purpose of using Planner as a historical task tracker if resources are limited to 250 tasks.
This limit has been removed – users can now have thousands of tasks assigned to them.
We’re continuing work around performance and actively monitoring how many users hit this limit. So far, we only have seen users with unchecked Flows/automated task assignments hitting this limit.
We are planning on publishing formal documentation around all of our Planner limits once we’ve completed more performance work, but don’t have anything to share at this time.

1. Increase the 250/1500 task limits in Planner.
2. Provide an option to run a report or view number of tasks a person is assigned to.
3. When a task is completed have planner automatically remove the assigned user(s) or
4. Upon completion of a task, automatically reduce user task count in Planner.
Do you really expect 365 customers to hang in there with you, MS? Is this designed to force people into Projects? Or is it simply gross oversight that continues to ignored?

Increasing limit or automatic archiving/deleting completed tasks is really necessary.
Today i had to create 150 plans for our projects. my importsoftware stopped and i was wonder why. i created unassigned tasks. after about 1500 tasks in my plans, no import was possible anymore. I used the accounts of my colleges to finish my work. that was a very bad experience!!
it would be great if we can adjust this limit for Special users
Absolutely agree to "Removing completed tasks defeats the purpose of using Planner as a historical task tracker if resources are limited to 250 task". Hope this is solved differently and soon!

Yes!!!!! Found a Workaround guys ;)
I think its just a buffer like 250 Ticket limit per User!
You can Unassign every User from a Completed Ticket. The Documantation abou who kompleted the ticket is there ;) The ticket stays there for always the only diference is that nowone is Assigned to the Ticket. And the User has his 250 Buffer Ready for other Tickets to be completed ;)

This will not work for us in the long term. The limitation needs to be removed, or another workable solution created such as autoarchive of some sort
Defeats the purpose of using this tool for a company our size. Please remove this ASAP.

Please remove this limit ASAP. This limitation is hindering our productivity!
We need unlimited tasks or this is not useful.
Frustrated that the limit for tasks is 250! When collaborating with groups, that amount is way too small, making this product pretty much useless. My organization depends on assigning tasks to other employees. If we are paying for a service, then there should be no limit.
Hit the limit, can't use the product anymore. this sucks!

I am just reiterating the need for the 250 task limit to be increased significantly. Our organization has roughly 650 projects going on at any given time and within each project our 5 person team will have multiple tasks. Therefore, the 250 limit makes this product useless for us as well. Also, is there a bucket limit? I haven't started adding our projects to a plan because of the task limit, but I am guessing there is an upper limit on the buckets as well which would also be a hindrance. When I came across this product I was so excited to start using it because it would be extremely beneficial for our current processes. I hope it is changed soon!

Having a task limit will likely render the Planner tool useless for our organization. There are already other issues (not being able to have a template, tasks not being listed in date order) which are deterrents, but this may have us drop using it all together. I understand that there may need to be some sort of limit, and a suggestion I have would be as follows. In addition to having a "Completed" feature for each of the individual tasks, create a "Completed" feature for the plan/project as a whole, and have that mechanism remove the task assignments (not the tasks themselves) for the entire plan/project. That way, it will free up more "task" space for all the individuals involved.
