Remove 250 task limit per person per plan.
Currently, there is a 250 task limit per person per plan. The error states “You've run out of space! Delete some old tasks and projects to continue creating new ones.” Removing completed tasks defeats the purpose of using Planner as a historical task tracker if resources are limited to 250 tasks.

This limit has been removed – users can now have thousands of tasks assigned to them.
We’re continuing work around performance and actively monitoring how many users hit this limit. So far, we only have seen users with unchecked Flows/automated task assignments hitting this limit.
We are planning on publishing formal documentation around all of our Planner limits once we’ve completed more performance work, but don’t have anything to share at this time.
Cheers,
The Planner Team

It's amazing it took over two years to remove that limit. Not sure how MS can justify such development strategy. And still, it took over a year and MS hasn't published what the limits are from what I can tell. A user had to create some tasks and show the limits. See the first items on this page https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/planner/planner-limitations/m-p/61650/page/6.

Do we know what the new limits are. I have people who left planner because of this. I do not want to promote it again with out the new quotas.

The is still an issue. It may have changed but it 's related. Now getting "We couldn't complete your request because your item or storage limit has been exceeded"

We have somes plans with ca. 1200 Tasks. The performance ist very slow. We need a better performance. We have to delete completed tasks, for working with this plan. We want to work continusly with 1 Plan, there are some new projects per week. We have less work if we don't have to delete tasks.

Folks, I have been testing this out myself since there isn’t an official answer. So far I have been able to create a plan with 2000 tasks and counting.

Hi there,
Wanted to add my voice to removing this limitation. I work in an organisation of over 30,000 employees who wish to use this in there individual teams and this limitation is the blocker to utilising Planner. This limitation should be removed as soon as possible. -

Is increasing or, even better, removing this constraint, on the Planner road map (I did not see it)? Hoping that this is a technical constraint and not for purely business reasons.

This limit is a MAJOR issue for long term use of planner. Historical tracking of tasks is an important component of and removing tasks to get around this limit is not acceptable.

We would never have started using planner if we knew about this limit. we are now looking at alternatives. this is simply unworkable. the combination of no archive capability and all these limits makes this unusable. please find a solution.

Remove the limits! I didn’t realize there is such a low limit to a plan?! How should we do weekly recurring tasks? 4 members, 5 weekly recurring task per member and that was it? If this was on purpose please explain why?

Wow, wow, wow, this is a huge limitation for longer-dated or detailed projects!
Please give us an ETA for an update Teams team!

This limit is not good even for small sized projects. I have been trying to convince our exces to start using Planner country wide but this limit makes it impossible to do it.

Well... that's it. I just had it with Planner. While trying to handle the low limit on tasks, I wanted to delete hundreds of tasks so the Plan can continue working. To do so, I wanted to delete a bunch of old tasks using flow (loop through them and delete) Guess what, there is no Flow action for planner to delete a task :(
Microsoft is missing great opportunities to compete with Jira or Trello by not fully integrating Flow/Planner together and keep the users inside the O365 ecosystem. :(

My Flows are now all failing due to this limit yet, no clear error message telling there is a limit in planner.

I can't believe that 2 YEARS later we still have no feedback from Microsoft on this issue. Is this list monitored?

wow, this limit is way TOO LOW!! I built a daily process that creates a dozens of tasks every day for the same people. If I cannot keep historical workload in planner, then I guess it's back to a SP task list... :(

Please remove the task limits as it negatively effects the usefulness of the planner for our business

This is becoming an issue in our business and is becoming another reason the take up of Office 365 tools is problematic in our organisation, Please make this unlimited ASAP. If you need to place a limit then please make it large enough that people will not reach the limit in such a short space of time!!
