Assign checklist item to specific individuals
This would be great to have when it's a bigger task that has several folks working on specific elements of it.

We need the ability to link a 'child' card as a check list item. Trello has this feature and it is brilliant! Please add to Planner ASAP

@Mick Thornton: As a school IT administrator I have set up tasks for creating a new student by grade level, with subtasks of each software system in which they need an account setup. Sometimes those sub programs are managed by other team members. It's much easier and cleaner for me to have 1 card for Bobby Jo and then subtasks for each system for which she needs credentials instead of individual cards for "Bobby Jo - Google", "Bobby Jo - Active Directory", etc. It would get cluttered real fast. Plus, having 1 card for 1 student allows a quick and easy way to visually determine if a student has all the systems she/he requires to start.

Totally agree. The ability to assign sub-tasks to individuals would be great. Assigning a date would be nice, but assign a person is definitely huge.

Why can I not create a sub-task? A leopard never changes its spots and neither did Microsoft ever. Starting out with basically useless applications which takes years to improve upon. Not even useful for smaller workpackages. Useless!

the ability to have due dates assigned to those subtasks (checklist items) - as well as assign specific members.

I'm trying to understand the value of this in the overall framework of agile or other management systems. I thought the task was supposed to be small enough to get done in a short amount of time by the person. If two people are working then there would be two separate tasks, one for each person with their respective tasks on it or you just assign both people to both tasks. Is this to support using some other system? Thanks for clarifying.

+1 for being able to treat checklist items as full tasks--subtasks.

Can you please improve on this 4 items in PLANNER:
1. When creating an item on “CHECKLIST” hope it has an option to assign it to someone
2. When attaching file – why it only allows to attach until 9 attachment file, can you increase it and allow to attach file more than 20 files.
3. When writing in the comments part below – hope it has already an option to attached file in each comment.
4. Why is there any option to do recurrence on the due date? If the task is repeated on a weekly or monthly.
Hopefully you can improved on this very soon...Thank you. -

I would really like to be able to take one task and assign checklist items to specific people. Right now I need to assign the whole team to the task, or make multiple small task so each person knows what they are responsible for.

Subtasks and assignment of checklist items needed.

The limit on the number of checklist items needs to be increased as 20 is very less.

The checklist is nice, but we really need to be able to create subtasks for assignment (perhaps the promotion option on the checklist could create the subtask) or be able to assign the checklist tasks.

Deciding between tools for collaborative management of work within teams the lack of ability to assign subtasks (via checklists) to individuals is a serious weakness that could force us to use a different tool.

My team has asked for this today. It is a requirement for use to use Planner as an Agile tool

This would definitely make Planner more collaborative.

I agree, it would be great to assign checklist items to individuals (like Taskworld).

Basecamp, Asana, etc. all have this feature but my company uses Microsoft whenever able- but this functionality keeps us from using Planner :(

It would be great to be able to assign sub-tasks under main tasks in the case where the main task is to be managed by one person, and a sub-task completed by another person. It would also be great to assign due dates.
