Support markdown notation for description fields
It would be great if .md (Markdown) notation, like in https://msdn.microsoft.com/Library/vs/alm/overview/reference/markdown-guidance, would be supported for text description fields for tasks, plans, buckets and other objects

While folks wait for this feature to be officially implemented I've created a chrome (and Chromium Edge) extension that allows you to use Markdown in planner (other people in your team will need the extension too if they want to see the changes). Only works in the "notes" section not the comments.

This would be a wonderful enhancement, and we sorely need it. My entire COVID19 response operation recently adopted Teams as the standard collaboration platform. We are trying to migrate our management tools (visual boards, queues, etc) from Trello to Planner, and this seemingly small feature is really holding us up. Some of our items require a lot of documentation, notes, and comments, and it's just too overwhelming without organizing the text with visual queues with markdown features.

Absolutely -- Customer Satisfaction is important to Microsoft. I understand that Microsoft provides Planner, basically for free but it is subsidized by our O365 subscriptions. Is the issue adding MarkDown text support to Planner that it creates "TOO MUCH" value to the Product -- That Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project or Trello should be used if users want these functions? ... I just want the ability to format text as Monospace text.
We use a complete Microsoft Stack, and though I love using Dev/Ops to manage my Code, Work and Deployments to Azure and Push updates to Teams in O365. My small dev teams feels so much more comfortable with the Planner Interface...I am a big fan of "whatever works for the team" and it boosts overall productivity, even if I am now copying statuses and managing two boards :).

Basic markdown in the description field and comments would add so much benefit.
Bold, italic, bullet list are used by my team in Trello on a daily basis. Almost seems hard switching services with this feature missing. -

I use Markdown in Trello constantly. Seems like a no-brainer to include it in Planner, especially in the Description field. It's incredibly frustrating that there're no formatting options included.

Markdown in the title field would be really useful... Trello can only to it with a custom extension. Can we have something similar?

Another vote for markdown editing. I would find this really useful for my organisation.

Not just the text description fields, but the comment fields, and all other text block fields.

Like Trello does it :-) Key needs: Headers, bold, lists, hyperlinks.
