Please add "Search" Task in order to find a task quickly

Thanks for the feedback on the Filter menu and cross-plan search functionality!
Next we’d like to pursue widening the Filter metadata to include other fields like assignee, description, and checklists. We’re also working with a search team in Office to align with UX and functionality across Office 365.
This work hasn’t been scheduled yet, but we will update this thread as soon as it is.
Please continue to share details on the filter and search functionality you’d like to see in Planner!
Thanks,
The Planner Team

Search is an absolute requirement for long term use.

Absolutely agree that search is needed for long term viability! I've just started using it and already miss having a search feature!

I rolled Planner out to my staff this week. This was the first comment from every staff member. "Can I search?" This will be a must-have in order to utilize this program

Definitely need a way to search the tasks.

Perhaps something that works more like a Filter than a Search...

There should be a Search tool so you can easily find a "Card"

The ability to search across all Plans or within a particular Plan is sorely needed.

I wanted to reiterate my earlier comments that the lack of search functionality in Planner is really hampering the users I have working in it. Yesterday, I had a call for help from a user looking for some particular files I knew had been uploaded into Files for a plan, but there are going on a hundred files uploaded and sifting through them and trying to find the right file is laborious, especially when the files are poorly named.
The only ways I have found to search for stuff I know to be in Planner is as follows:
1. If it's a task or a message, I search Outlook for the conversation and then reply to it in Outlook. If someone else is looking for the conversation, I try to provide them with a link, from Outlook. This is clunky.
2. If it's a file I'm looking for, I go into the Files area in Planner, and then choose Sync, then click the Show My Files link to open a Windows Explorer window for the files in OneDrive. I then do a search from within Windows Explorer to search the files. This is a lot of steps. I can't reasonably expect a non-power user to get through all these steps. When I have to list a litany of steps for getting work done, the haters come out of the woodwork and challenge me on why I'm using Planner and not Trello. One particular Trello lover delights in pointing out how Planner isn't up to snuff.
Thanks for listening.

Search by "Label" would be good. In ToDoIst you can slice and dice via that tool's equivalent of labels e.g. @label.
At the moment the Label functionality in Planner appears a bit pointless?

I just spent 7 minutes looking for a particular card to make notes on it. A simple search box is desperately needed.
MS - Please prioritise this one! :-)

Search with live filter would be useful!

The lack of search functionality in Planner is starting to be a problem now that I'm trying to use it for two live projects. There needs to be a way to search tasks and files, at minimum. Searching calendar appointments would be useful. Being able to search by username to filter by all tasks a particular user was either assigned or has commented on would also be handy to have. I'm having to work around the system by finding update emails in Outlook and following the links in the emails. It's clumsy.

Agree. Even as a personal planner team you would end up having duplicates

Really need this. CTRL F in the browser does only so much. Getting so many tasks now that it would be nice to declutter the screen via search/filtering.

Nikola Howard commented
Indeed - we have a couple of cards that we have duplicated in the same plan by accident and doing a title search to find both quickly is a must have!

Agreed, inability to search across all plans (say for tasks assigned to a specific individual) is so important. Please implement...

Agreed, search would be fantastic. I think there should be two searches: 1) to search across all Plans and 2) search within active / currently viewing Plan.
