Please add "Search" Task in order to find a task quickly
Thanks for the feedback on the Filter menu and cross-plan search functionality!
Next we’d like to pursue widening the Filter metadata to include other fields like assignee, description, and checklists. We’re also working with a search team in Office to align with UX and functionality across Office 365.
This work hasn’t been scheduled yet, but we will update this thread as soon as it is.
Please continue to share details on the filter and search functionality you’d like to see in Planner!

Searching is pretty important .... is there an update on the ETA for this?
Any news about the search?

Searching and sorting...both are desperately needed and would make Planner much more valuable!
When is search - the world revolves around search functions. Come on! Too many plans and tasks!!
If you have more than a few tasks, you can't find the task you are looking for without a word search function. scanning each task to find the one you are looking for is just not feasible. And filtering is not a viable solution, the tasks are all assigned to me, and they are all current.
it's critical for us to have search function as well.. we need to be able to search for words and for assignee across all planners in the hub.

Planner is great and we use it a lot within the whole company but it is impossible to find important historical data/text. How free text search is not possiblen the product at this point is VERY difficult to understand???

I like to have the same text search as in Trello.com.

Can you at least add an Alphabetical sort into each buck list filter
Without search capability tasks can be re-entered by multiple people and even assigned unknowingly to multiple team members. Over time and depending upon how large your team becomes, this duplication and triplication is problematic. The ability to export to Excel is helpful as one way to overcome this, but that doesn't support the teams concept of a one stop shop for team collaboration.

This is a ridiculous ommission and complete lack basic functionality
My Company is looking to migrate from Trello but this is a very major weakness.
We are abandoning Planner largely because of this issue. Without search it is worse than useless because people use it then spend ages scrolling through looking for the task so they can update it. Just add a Search box at the top. Please! And how exactly is it Partially Complete?
"Next we’d like to pursue widening the Filter metadata to include other fields like assignee" what do you mean "Next"?? You have not implemented this yet and it is much more important!
Is there any plan to allow tasks be searchable via the global search?
This is getting ridiculous.
Please implement a search function, it's pretty much a basic feature of ANY product...
We are going to have to move back to Trello, because without the search function it has become very hard for us to use Planner. The team members are naturally migrating back to emails for communication instead - arghhhh!
This needs to be comparable to Trello, GSuite, etc. where you can just search your stuff. No need for a filter. We just need to be able to search our card title and content.

I think making this a top-level item without having to first click on the "Filter" menu to get to it would make a lot of sense for Planner. My user expectation is built around web apps like Trello and Gmail which make text search a top-level feature, and the primary way I find stuff in those web apps.
absolutely neccessary! it's just not intuitive to search now.
Same here, we have more than 60 projects at a time. We need to be able to look up a project quickly. And, as mentioned in other posts, be able to view tasks x-plans (for e.g. Employee of the month...)

Under the "search" banner it would also be useful to search for plans by plan title via the 'View All Plans' in the planner hub. Currently you can just browse through them all.
