Please add "Search" Task in order to find a task quickly
Thanks for the feedback on the Filter menu and cross-plan search functionality!
Next we’d like to pursue widening the Filter metadata to include other fields like assignee, description, and checklists. We’re also working with a search team in Office to align with UX and functionality across Office 365.
This work hasn’t been scheduled yet, but we will update this thread as soon as it is.
Please continue to share details on the filter and search functionality you’d like to see in Planner!
The Planner Team
The "search field" for tasks exists, but using the mask "filter for keywords" does only work for headings of the task. (Meaning you can filter for keywords that might be part of the title of a task). In my opinion it would be helpful if keywords work also for names, notes , etc. (e.g.: so that you don't have to scroll down to mark the name of the assigned person explicitly)
Microsoft Planner is fantastic tool, the only one that fits my needs I could find so far. The only one biggest flaw is that THERE IS NO WAY TO SEARCH WITHIN THE TASKS. When you have 10-20 tasks in total, including completed ones, it is okay, but after a year or two, it is impossible to search and find what one would be looking for. Also I am shocked that such a basic feature as SEARCH is not available within ENTERPRISE products, really disappointing. I really hope Microsoft will provide this kind of feature soon. And no, filtering the tasks by their names is not a viable option for me. That would be a life changing feature for me and my team.
Hey guys, please create a search feature like the one that OneNote has. That search is great (at least for my needs.) I'm honestly surprised that there is nothing like that in Planner.
Planner as it is at the moment is barely usable, no search and no option to remove pre-defined columns in list mode. Please fix this!
If this would be a google tool, a working search would have been the first priority and a no-brainer for all programmers....

Would be great to get an update on this! A better Search would make use of Planner so much easier...

Wow! 5 years and still no advance in search capabilities in Planner. Filtering does not help when the keyword you are looking for is not in the task title. A useful search tool would need to include everything in a task: title, assignee, description, checklists, labels, and all comments posted.

Shame on Microsoft, i can't belive in it.
Go check out the "Filter by Keyword" solution to this problem that I finally discovered here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/msteams_tfb-msteams_task-msteams_mngtask/ctrl-f-search-option-in-microsoft-planner/5d0fa7e0-0e9d-451e-90d2-20436844bd7c

Selecting the dropdown shows you all your filtering options. You can filter by Due, Label, Bucket, and Assignment. Or, if you are searching for a specific task but can’t remember which bucket it is in, you can also search by keyword. Planner will search all your tasks and deliver all task cards containing that keyword.
Unfortunately so far there is no option via the shortcut key CTRL + F..."
There has been no update on this within almost 2 years - seriously?! Come on, Planner Team -- your tool is useless without a decent search functionality. We will switch to Trello if this is not fixed soon. It's the #1 roadblock / critical issue in Planner. Please go ahead and fix it asap -- Microsoft owns a search engine, for crying out loud. Use it!
When is the work scheduled to resume?

Is this now in process?

please please add search: all the 'done'/ 'completed' tasks are just as informative (even more so) than active tasks. Use of Filter function, as suggested elsewhere is an extremely sub-optimal approach.
Please add search!

The keyword search that is currently implemented is helpful, but what would be even more helpful for my team would be the ability to search by assignee. In other words, they would love to be able to search for all the tasks assigned to a particular person, so that they don't have to scroll through the long list of names and then select a name (which is proving to be pretty cumbersome at the moment).
We will be moving to another platform if Microsoft can't add a simple feature as search. So disappointing!
My opinion: Widen the search option with a simple fulltext search.
Just found out that Planner Search RESULTS will only return 100 plans in the list, regardless of how many might fit the search parameter. This is a huge problem! Anyone else realize this? Anyone seen any discussion of fixing it?
Just found that you can filter on a keyword (or any word in the buckets) which is similar to search... :)

Lack of a robust search function in Tasks is the #1 barrier to the adoption of TEAMS in our environment.
Without a basic search function, Planner is effectively unusable for large projects.
