Subtasks
It would be good if we are able to create a subtask to an existing task.

Thank you for the feedback!
As an update, we’d like to pursue improvements to the checklist functionality in Planner, but don’t have any near-term plans.
If you’d like to vote on task dependencies/linking/referencing, please head over here: https://planner.uservoice.com/forums/330525/suggestions/13976094
We will keep you updated when there are any changes. Keep the votes coming and comments coming!
Thanks,
The Planner Team

Dear MS-TEAMS-Experts,
your MS PLANNER is nice but only 50% of worth if you don´t have the chance to SUBTASKS. Only Level under KANBAN is muh too less.
Please consider this tremendous demand in your priority list for updates.
It is necessary for a realistic task planning to have in minimum one (better 2 or 3) additional levels in which you can split your Tasks under a higher categories. Hereby it´s necessary to have also the chance to combine files and due dates etc. … -

In the previous software I could assign subtasks to individual team members. I need this function again!

It would be really useful if my subtasks showed as the checklist and once the subtask was mark completed by one of my coworkers it would check it off my checklist to signal me when I have all subtasks done and ready for me to do my part.

This is an absolute necessity so that several people can work together on a project with milestones.

This is something I could really use as well for my team. It would also be great if the sub-tasks could be assigned to other people as well. If the Planner team could refer to how Asana handles tasks, it would be really nice to see Planner's tasks function the same way.

Not being able to assign subtasks to different people with different dates within an overall project and monitor that progress is a joke.
It wouldn't be so bad if you could use the buckets as the overall project but you cannot assign start finish dates to the bucket and on the schedule view it doesn't show which task belongs to which bucket. Overall totally useless as a project management tool.

Not being able to create subtasks, or at a minimum linked tasks, that can be used for tracking progress of a parent task is a deal breaker. A subtask needs to be assignable, trackable from parent, time limited (own due date), and possible to inherit information from master. A simple checklist doesn't come close at all to that need and this simple feature renders Planner close to unusable..

If subtasks can't be created, how about having multi-level checklists? Having just a single flat list isn't much use.

I agree on this feature. At the moment, having to "repeat" a main task so that there is individual assignment is a little annoying. To combat this, we append [Initials] after the checklist item and assign multiple users to one task. It would be great to have one task in one bucket, that I can individually assign members a point on the checklist without having to append initials. I hope we see this integrated soon!

Plus for the subtasks to have all the fields of a task: due date, assignee, progress, etc.

Having come from JIRA and trying to adopt planner - the lack of ability to create subtasks and/or assign checklist (ie sub)tasks to people slows teams down.

How about this;
Add a Link to another Task as a checklistentry?
If the Task will be set to done, the cecklistentry becomes checked.automaticly.
To choose a Task, add a button at the End of the checkkist. If clicked, Show a list of Tasks (probably only in the same bucket?) to choose from.I would love that feature.
Thx

Absolutely. I`m totally with you, that Tasks should be referenceable to others. Not only creating Sub-Tasks out of a Task, but also "connecting" existing ones.
That in turn, maybe would also make it easier, to generate a GANTT-Chart.

The ability to have sub-tasks and assign them to different users is essential

Checklists are ******NOT GOOD ENOUGH*******. Sub-tasks are critical.
I need to track my team's progress, both at the macro AND the micro level. So, how many parent tasks do they own, and how many child tasks do they own, and the percentage complete.

Need ability to add several checklists -being able to rename them , plus assign @ team member to each item on checklist with ideally individual due date if required. The task cannot be marked complete until all items in checklists are completed.

Would like to be able to copy a text list in notepad and create a checklist for each line.
Second option would be to import csv, xlsx or some type of file to import a checklist.would like more than 25 items in a checklist.
For instance new hire task, "Setup Accounts". We have more than 25 items to check off for this task.
