Subtasks
It would be good if we are able to create a subtask to an existing task.

Thank you for the feedback!
As an update, we’d like to pursue improvements to the checklist functionality in Planner, but don’t have any near-term plans.
If you’d like to vote on task dependencies/linking/referencing, please head over here: https://planner.uservoice.com/forums/330525/suggestions/13976094
We will keep you updated when there are any changes. Keep the votes coming and comments coming!
Thanks,
The Planner Team

I am using the checklist as sub tasks and as these can be displayed on the board it is working ok for me.

To also be able to add a description to the checklist (subtasks), assign subtasks to different members and add deadline to subtasks

We are moving from Freedcamp to Planner - Freedcamp uses subtasks. They are essential to making Planner an even better app.

How about "recursive boards", in which you can define a task to have subtasks, which - when opened - show a "new" board with all subtasks?

Dependencies are needed. When using as a scrum board, it would be very helpful.

Could this connect to a customized list such as a Sharepoint list? I have case where a task is an ongoing task but need to capture things like a call list for technical assistance provided by the specialist to the customer. Or allow a customized list to be added to a card. Fields could be some what limited and an accompanying view with filters that can be exported to excel or access..

The need for dependent tasks is a must if you are going to use Planner for anything but really simple, linear projects, but doing it in such a way that is more streamlined than MS Project would be truly valuable to my organization.

I'd like the ability to assign due dates for subtasks/checklists as well.

True subtasks are definitely needed. Not just a checklist. Allowing subtasks that count toward total percent of completeness would allow for better organization of tasks. Using the colored tabs is limiting because then you have to know the color code (and assume no colorblindness). You're also assuming that you don't have more than 5-6 categories.

This is essential, to be able to mark the percentage completed of each task.

agree with this. Also, the subtask should count against the percentage of completeness.

Have you tried using checklists? There are no dependencies built into Planner that requires someone to check off a checklist item before a task can be marked completed, but checklists may be useful to you.

Either this, or have the option to assign checklist items to different people.

Yes!!!! Task linking / dependencies would be huge!
