Add icon to plans
The short-cuts on the left side of the user interface is useful for jumping between different plans. However, it only shows two letters for each group e.g. CB for consumer b2b.
It would be great if a plan/group could have an icon instead to make it recognizable.

How is this not a thing yet?

There's no way to group plans either. At least being able to change the icon or manually specify the color would help.

Please add this feature; the current default naming convention is a little hard to consume. Thanks!

This really should be baseline feature.

Icons would be good. Also it would be nice to be able to assign certain colors to different plans

I'd also like to request icons for groups. I was looking for a way to do this for multiple groups i manage for recognizable brands and this would be a great feature!

Hey Microsoft,
2 years since the first post regarding this suggestion.
Are you really listening????? -

Dear Microsoft!!!
Please add option within the app -and not just the workaround in Outlook groups - to be able to change image and icon for plan . Would be easier to differentiate between plans, and as others have said, gives an identity and ownership to team plans and planners.

As someone stated below, you can, in theory, change the plan icons under the group mail options (people -> Search plans name -> click email -> change image from there).
BUT...
It seems that it works only if the stars are aligned properly:
I got it to work once per three plans I tried. The image is properly getting changed at groups, but on Planner, the image is not showing. I tried to force -load the site, tried to convert image to smaller ones, even use the same image as with the one I got to work... No clue why it works on one, but not for the rest. This really should be baseline feature.

Agervating this does not work like Teams Icons where you can change them easily.

So how do you do it?

Pictures would be great but I would be happy to be able to chose a color and the two letters. The colors and letters seem random. I'll get a number of blue backgounds and then out of nowhere the next one will be red. I also have two letters that don't match the word in the title - for example my eCommerce project is identified as Qe. Also, forget everybody's tip to use the Outlook Group to edit it - they don't stick. The only tip is to pause a second when you name your Plan. Name it in a way that you "might" get the two letters that you want. You can rename the title later - sadly it doesn't effect the original two letters.
If Microsoft wants to be a contender in this arena they need to be more aggressive and agile in implementing lightweight features like this. It's 2019 ;-)

Just do exatly what Meistertask does, and you'll have a slick project management app. Or Wrike...Searchability within the mobile app is limited to just plans? Plans are easy to find, tasks are not once you've got many of them...Why is that not included?
Proper searching, badges, and lack of priority sequence for tasks are the biggest hinderances of the application.

Many folks saying change it in outlook but that is changing the Group Icon not the plan Icon a group can have plans in channels and they all inherit the root icon, I need to change each plans Icon. Each plan has its own name why not icon.

Hi all, I was able to change the plan icon but not in the Planner app itself but through the Outlook Group that is linked to the planner.
When you create a new plan in the Planner app the new 'Group' is created in the Outlook. There is always at least one email within the group saying 'Welcome to the *** group'. If you click on the icon (e.g. CB) within that emai, click on three dots and select Edit, you will be able to change the photo of the icon.
Hope this helps. -

I am puzzled that a tiny requirement that was statet 2 years ago, which is thought to be standard in many new applications is still not even planned!
People love personalisation and in this case it is not even a "nice to have",it is really helpful when working with many plans, creates team identification and acceptance! -

Agreed - icons would be great, not substitute letters. At the very least it would be great to be able to select your own colour. I've tried to select Conversations as per stepped out several times below however only ever get the :-( Something went wrong error.

Incredibly inconsistent. You change it in OWA, you change it in Groups. First time it changes in Planner. Subsequent times ... not so much. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. It seems quite strange that you have to change the icon in OTHER places in the system besides Planner. This is probably a function of too many teams working on too many apps that are all supposed to talk to each other. I understand it must be difficult, but please see what you can do to fix it.
