Ability to add email as Planner Task
Many time - new action items come in from clients and consultants as emails. It would be great if from the web app I could convert an email to a planner task - carry the body of the email as a note - and automatiacally add any attachments as documents attached to the task.
Look at Todoist for inspiration.
How is this still an open feature? This is table stakes for all other planning/kanban applications.... Seems like this would be an easy win for MS. Please add this capability.
this is possible with flow.microsoft.com

It appears that I will not be using planner. without this functionality, there is no point. 80% of my tasks and plans are driven out of e-mail. I am not going to become less efficient by having to stop and re-enter information.

Really looking forward to have Outlook Integration with MS Planner. It's annoying the extra effort we need to create an email based task. I've tried to create from Outlook into To-Do and after this send to Planner, but we do not have interface from To-Do to Planner on this direction, just the other way around (with assigned to me function).
Trello has had a feature like this for years.
You can obtain a unique email address for a "board" (== a Planner instance).
you can CHANGE that email if needed.
If you send or forward an email to that email address, it goes as a new "card" ("Task") in the top of the first "List" ("bucket").
I've now switched to Asana. Crazy that MS is one company and didn't think to integrate emails to planner

Hi MS, can we get an update on this? It is really a crucial function for many of us.

This is a common feature for a lot of the to-do/task planners. I use TickTick which has that feature and can't switch to Planner until an email to task feature is available.

MS had announced that they are planning to add a Planner integration to Outlook.
This is not what I want. I want to be able to forward an email to Planner.
This would mean that either:
1. Every Planner bucket has its own email address.
2. Every Planner plan has its own email address.
3. Planner has one email address, that goes to a Planner “inbox”.
I don’t see how (1) is practical. How would users keep track of all of these email addresses?
(2) would still require users with many plans to deal with a correspondingly large number of email addresses.
(3) is the model used by OmniFocus (and perhaps by others). As a former longtime OmniFocus user, I can say this works very well.
When a user gets an email that includes a task, they can simply forward it to firstname.lastname@example.org
Later they can visit the Planner “inbox” and triage the tasks into the appropriate plan and bucket.
If an email contains multiple tasks, the user can forward it multiple times, editing the subject line each time to be the name they wish to assign the task.

it would make the migration and tasks inclusions easier
Hi, i would like this
I agree this would be a great functionality. It would help save time for users who often get lost in MS Team interfaces.

One of our most important customers just asked us about this (we are their Microsoft licensing partner) and we ended up here.

The ability to forward emails to Trello is what is keeping me from switching to Planner.

considering you can e-mail to a Team, I'm finding this is one of the key areas that's preventing people from adopting this. Considering this was shared THREE AND A HALF YEARS AGO I have no faith it'll be here before our entire company moves to Smartsheets and Wrike (2 platforms certain teams have already moved to).
Traditionally Microsoft is unable simply to google basic things all other competitors have as a standard.

I am facing issue in MS Planner Andriod App frequently crushing and hang up while using.

I was able to set up a Flow to send a group email to planner. The Flow updates Planner automatically, but I would prefer an option to only send emails that I want to planner. Group emails don't have a flag option. The problem is that comments made on a planner tasks send an email notification to the groups which then creates another task in planner.

Silence for a year.... maybe Microsoft has given up and going to buy Trello
