Offer option to stop posting Planner activities in Group conversations
Group conversations get quite cluttered with activities in Planner eg. Task xyz assigned to John Smith. Would like the option to turn this off

Thanks for your feedback. We now set posting Task Activity (Task Assign and Complete) to the Group Conversation to Off By Default. Plan/Group owners can turn this setting on/off in the “Edit Plan” dialog.

Does this mean everyone won't get email notification when a task is marked completed

Hello, this update is not working!!! Change can't be saved!!!
Notifications and Subscriptions
Send notifications about task assignment and task completion to the Plan's conversation feed. -

The best approach would be to turn - off posts by default and offer a Logic Flow connector for planner so that we can hook-up actions to events triggered by Planner CUD or assignment activities

And I'm not quite sure how this got past testing...

Oh dear jesus please implement this, when you're first setting up a plan it just HAMMERS you with notifications. It also seems to ignore the 'subscribe' option on one of my plans, meaning I get all this **** twice.

Any updates on the deeper set of notification options?

+1 and as a first time user doing some project planning, I had no idea that it was sending all these tasks to our big team. Finished my work, returned to email, and then noticed I had unknowingly sent a bunch of spam.
If not defaulted off, you need a first time alert.

Agreed with all comments, way too much email spam currently.

We need a better approach than all-or-nothing, when it comes to receiving email notifications from Planner. Nothing is not enough notification, all is too much. If users could subscribe to individual boards or conversations, and be able to unsubscribe from those things if they get too much email, that seems like the best way to go.

It would be better if cards or plans had an email address that could be cc'd as needed as opposed to the default behavior which is way too spammy

Agree. Would like to use the conversations capability to house technical details and important email communication about the project deliverables. Instead, it is filled with administrative notes about tasks that are updated, etc. such that the important conversations cannot be easily found/followed. Perhaps two sections of notifications would be helpful: one for administrative activity and another for true conversations about the project.

I agree the email spam from this every time you leave a comment on a task is too high. I end up using description to add updates to a task instead of comment due to the email spam.
