Sort tasks by Due date

With due date options in the Filter menu, and the ability to group tasks by due date category, we’re hoping that this will help Planner users find and organize upcoming dates and deadlines.
We understand there is still an ask for sorting tasks within an existing grouping, please continue to use this thread to share feedback on this.

It is infuriating that the sort defaults to 'group by progress' so that I need to change it every time I open Planner. It also ought to be possible to sort within a Bucket. Ideally I would want to see my Buckets, each individually sorted into due date order. That seems to me like an obvious and easy thing to do, and it's surprising it isn't available.
I really like that I can sort by due date. I wish there were a way to set my planner to always load this way verses automatically loading to the "progress" sorting option
Need to able to sort tasks by due date. Otherwise what is the point!?
Sorting tasks by due date is essential to this being a useful too. I am astonished that this is not possible, and that this request hasnt gotten more priority.
Any update on creating the ability to sort tasks within an existing grouping?? Would really like to see the grouping at least listed from soonest to latest within a bucket when in Board view.

This needs better customisation on how the future due dates are defined/shown/grouped.
For us 'Next Week' and 'Future' is of no use. We need this in:
- Next month
- Next 3 months
- Next Quarter,
- Next Year
Tasks should be sortable with nearest due date showing at the top. It's like Microsoft doesn't use their own products. I can't believe any Microsoft employee would use this app in this way and be happy. This has been in the works since 2016 and still isn't available. I wan't to group by bucket because that gives me my priorities/categories. Then within each bucket I need to know what's coming up. I can use the Schedule view to see what dates this week I have items but then I lose my prioritization. The filter is useless. As a side request, I would like to have the ability to 'roll-up' my buckets so I could see more and then expand them when I want to see what's in them. Kind of like sharepoint web parts...
Yes we still need to sort tasks within the buckets by priority or due date. The filtering and grouping helps but if I could sort by due date, for example, I wouldn't have to do that in every view I go to just to scoot far-out deadlines to the bottom of the list.
We need the option to sort individual buckets by priority or due date.
Please add this feature. You should be able to select autosort individual buckets by due date, alphabetically or by priority.
Closest is to Filter by Bucket, the Group by Due date
They respond that we should use the filter. Do they NOT even read the comments? Use of the filter does NOT solve the problem in any way.

it's impossible to prioritise by due date, can't easily identify everything without a due date, spot over due - all manual and time consuming to use. Thinking of moving to trello next time around and moving out of Teams and into Jira + Trello + Confluence pages but holding off doing it depending on how Microsoft Planner and Teams play catch up
I really need the ability to look back at completed tasks in order of completion date. It's crazy that if I just completed a task today, then I have no easy way of finding it again among the dozens of other completed tasks of the same bucket, priority, or due date.
I would also like to sort by priority when grouping by bucket, progress, or due date, and vice versa. Right now the order seems completely random. I don't know if it's based on the date a task was created or what.
Being able to sort completed tasks by completion date within a bucket would be nice as well.
If a task is complete, it should not show as "late" when looking at the "by Due Date" view. Some options to consider:
1) Having a separate bucket for "completed" at the end (so Open, late tasks are still first) or having the view IGNORE completed tasks
2) OR you can have the process of "completing" a task clear the due date. Not all users will like that and will want to keep the history of due vs closed, but that is fine for my workflows and reporting.
Another person in need of this capability to sort within a bucket
