MS is planning since 2017 to work on this... 3 years later nothing.
This issue is a deal breaker for most organizations, see all the comments of people telling they are going back to Trello, Asana, ...
Time to wake up MS.

actually there are at least 9 other duplication of this issue, leaving them as separate skews the total votes and makes this seem less important than it is.

No update since June 2018?
this also has way more than 2300 votes, as there are at least 5 duplications of this issue. It's crazy to me how much MS allows for duplicate issues to be generated and doesn't seem to do a regular clean-up to ensure that there is one 1 only with all votes tallied.

the lack of this feature is making the product unusable for us, we really wanted to move over. We find people commenting on cards but no one knows and they miss the comment.
You also can't have a live conversation on the card, instead it is Comment, Post, Wait, Refresh, Reply, Post, Wait, Refresh.
We find we have to go to Teams Chat and post a link to the task and ask if people have seen the comment, the discussion then ends up being in Teams and not linked back to the plan.

Any update on timeline? This is a major feature missing that makes it significantly less usable than Jira/Trello. Especially if you tie it to Exchange online / Groups...
Every other microsoft product has the possibility of mentioning people, this shouldn't be difficult to implement in planner but is very necessary. Please move it up in the backlog.
There should be some functionality like cc in emails to the tasks. Currently we don’t have such if we want to keep people informed about the progress of the tasks.
Also, notification should be sent as and when any changes are made in tasks
This is a gotta have. We're using all Microsoft products, but we can't really use Planner for client projects without @ mentions. In the mean time we're using Trello, Slack, Quip, whatever our clients have. Terrible because we can't then see all our work in Planner Hub.
Gotta have this!

We need this feature, too. What is the latest update on this request?
Hmm, I don't think that this is a technical issue to implement so @PlannerTeam please share your opinion on this and let us know where this is going. Should we all move to Azure Boards or what is the idea?
This is really needed!

Planner is un-usable for team collaboration without being able to tag team members in comments.

Please add this feature as soon as possible or I'm moving my whole team to JIRA, thanks.
If I was the product owner of Planner, I would be running around in circles screaming profanities at random developers, whilst trying hard to understand why this feature has'nt been resolved yet - let alone left out of the first release. Seriously, this is a key feature and a deal-breaker.
Please complete this request. Two years since being planned and all competing products already have it.

Adding my support for @mentions. I did some training to my team on how to use Planner and in the first session was asked about how this was supported and why it was not supported. So anxious to see this get added.
In the mean time has anyone found a good workaround for this in order to keep other teams members up to date on changes in a task which they may not directly be assigned?
I have commented on this before - an alternative way to manage this may be create a native way to link a card in planner to a conversation (Post) in a specific channel in teams

This was a request since 2016 and you haven't solved that? It is a basic feature for an organization app...

Hello Planner Team, this would be really great to have @mentations in comments!
