Gantt chart view
I want to be able to make tasks dependent on other tasks, and see them in a Gantt chart view.
We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams of all sizes collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.
The new Microsoft Project has been redesigned. You can see your tasks on a Gantt chart (“Timeline”) view, a Board view (similar to Planner’s), and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users. I encourage you to look at the links below and the attached GIF for a sneak peak.
With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.
Thanks everyone for your patience, I encourage you to check out the new Project, and even start a trial to see if it’s right for you!

With an answer like that I must ask, can you please just get rid of planner. If you are going to force us to buy project then just do that. Planner doesn't deserve to be constantly held back due Microsoft's greedy cash grab for Project. After spending millions a year on E5 licensing to sucker punch us for project (and Visio) is a relic from another time. Ether make a capable resource task management tool or do not. This lackluster middle spot between completely useless and not wanting to undercut project is upsetting your customers.
A GANTT Chart output from Planner is essential if it is to be taken seriously
having us pay for ms project isn't a viable solution
Dear Project and Planner team,
Your Gantt solution only works if we are subscribed to Microsoft Project Online. Hence, it is a useless solution. I want Gantt chart in Planner... independent of Project.
Planner is like Microsoft To-Do with extra features. I don't even know why you didn't just update To-Do with Planner features. Just give us Gantt chart in Planner instead of forcing everyone to buy Project Online to get what should have been a basic feature.

I would consider what is currently June 12,202 in planner not to be a Gantt chart.. or any form or really scheduling or resource planner. It s calendar view that has task names plotted over it with no resource visualized, no coloring, no display or start of end dates, no dependencies.. even if you removed the dependencies and such.. planner is no Project (AND WE DO NOT WANT IT TO BECOME THAT HORRIBLE APPLICATION!). We want it to be simple but have access to the data in a visually appealing and useful way.
I looked at Planner 1 , 3, 5 and it seems like a web based version of Project.. NO THANKS. If I am going to be forced to a $120 a year minimum for planner with one or two additional visualizations I won't even try to use Planner anymore and just go back to using Atlassian products exclusively.
I find the "Planning" display mode in MS Planner pretty useless. i am the only one on my team with MS projects pro, so i have to shuffle between planner and projects to keep track of things. at this point, the only benefit of the planner is checking boxes and auto notification.

Without a Gantt chart View, planner is like a wonderful horse with 3 legs. Will not go very far...
Gantt Chart is definitely needed to make this useful!
Can you please add a Gantt view? Would be nice to have this feature as soon as possible as Planner is a gret way to communicate key activities across a Teams group, and not needing to rever to MS Project.

I have to agree with all the comments below. Releasing a paid product to address a functionality that is really basic for Planner is not a solution. At DXC we might seriously reconsider moving to another product.
cool post and lovely we share this in our website for sure https://www.socialmediacore.com/product/buy-facebook-video-likes/

We want to replace Asana with Planner. Definitely need Gantt in Planner. Not interested in Project.

I'd still like to see Gantt chart view in Planner and even in the new Tasks for Teams if that is possible instead of moving and licensing Project.
Hi, i am using planner to manage my business but i need gantt chart, i would prefer stay on planner, but i need to know if you plan to include gantt chart. If not I will have to change of solution.
Lack of Gantt chart in MS planner is preventing more widespread adoption of MS teams (particularly from Leadership team). Hopefully Microsoft will add this to their roadmap sooner rather than later, especially given the opportunity to gain widespread us of teams in today's predominantly WFH environment!!
looking forward to see a Gantt chart in MS planner.
i'm one more person that will not buy MS Project but wants to have a simple Gantt Chart in Planner
Yes, add a Gantt chart. Only thing missing to to use MS Planner, but really a bit useless without it.
Can MS please respond to the original request, is this something on the roadmap for Planner, or should we be looking elsewhere for this feature? Thanks

We can have timelines with SharePoint task lists (still in Classic Experience) but there is no way to have timelines with Planner, which is a pity. The only way to get this is with Project, but this application requires a specific license.
