Gantt chart view
I want to be able to make tasks dependent on other tasks, and see them in a Gantt chart view.

Hi everyone,
We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams of all sizes collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.
The new Microsoft Project has been redesigned. You can see your tasks on a Gantt chart (“Timeline”) view, a Board view (similar to Planner’s), and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users. I encourage you to look at the links below and the attached GIF for a sneak peak.
With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.

Thanks everyone for your patience, I encourage you to check out the new Project, and even start a trial to see if it’s right for you!
Best,
The Project and Planner team

Time to stop clowning around and be professional!
3rd party developers have Gantt charts for Planner so why can't Microsoft!!! If you think you are protecting project you are wrong! This is not that space, your users will just move to a similar program that does not hobble itself.
Please finish what you have started and make this right. Time to listen to your customers and get your heads out of your committee meeting in the echo chamber!!!
In short why bother making a planning product without implementing the industry standard of a Gannt chart.
Please listen to your paying customers!!!

Planning requires Gantt chart.

Planner is DOA. Gantt isn't coming to Planner based on the update from Ignite I found in a blog (link below)
This is so unfortunate as Project is expensive and overkill for most uses. I'd gladly pay for a 'pro' license for our E3 users to get Gantt (which by definition requires dependencies).

Below listed are some of the interesting Q&A discussed during Ignite 2017.
Q: Is it possible to create task dependencies from Planner?
A: No. Microsoft does not have near team plans for this feature. It is recommend to use Microsoft Project for such features. -

Planner would be useful if it had a Gantt chart. At the moment Wrike is a better option.

We could really use Gantt view in Planner as well, there are projects which don't require the full power of Project but without Gantt view Planners use is very limited.

Just discovering planner but the lack of Gantt chart and to see its long term ongoing issue is discouraging. Assume competition with MS Project is an issue....!?

A gantt chart is must for any planning application, or else planner remains a glorified to-do list.
Dear MS planner team, could you have a definite answer to the issue, please -

I totally agree! I don't know yet whether I am going to use Planner or Wrike, just because there is no gantt in Planner...
