Gantt chart view
I want to be able to make tasks dependent on other tasks, and see them in a Gantt chart view.
We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams of all sizes collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.
The new Microsoft Project has been redesigned. You can see your tasks on a Gantt chart (“Timeline”) view, a Board view (similar to Planner’s), and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users. I encourage you to look at the links below and the attached GIF for a sneak peak.
With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.
Thanks everyone for your patience, I encourage you to check out the new Project, and even start a trial to see if it’s right for you!
The Project and Planner team
Hello Microsoft - I feel this is a in sufficient answer.
MS Project is a level too much for what we need to do, please provide basic option in Planner - or allow them to work with the old sharepoint list concept where we had these basic features available.
Also allow custom fields please
Yes - pleas provide this feature in Planner. In Project web app many features are missing. Like synchronizing tasks in ToDoLists, sharing in calendar, etc.
I'm just missing the Gantt view - the rest ist perfect for my company.
We use both planner and project - but its useless for portfolio management as we cant see the big picture of our planner boards and project plans together - perhaps planner needs to be integrated into Roadmap?

rubbish answer - small business already paying for planner don't want Project as it isn't necessary
Please provide this Feature in Planner
Microsoft Project is not an option for us at the moment. We would like the Gant chart functionality in Planner please.

So ... You're saying I can try to decipher the monstrosity that is Microsoft pricing (and the resultant sticker shock that comes with this fun little process) when I can get something that is literally a step away from what I want for free in Planner.
No thanks. If we're paying, We'll pay for what we want, rather than what you want to give.
We use MS Planner more and more to assign tasks/responsibilities and to set due dates. A Gantt chart overview would be the most valuable addition. Please have this considered sooner than later. Thank you

Please add this feature to Planner. Please keep adding features to planner so it becomes a more useful tool.
Project is okay, but it needs to integrate with Planner and To-Do. Project separate from Planner is just another silo and program. Need a master table/grid view of all tasks in an Office 365 domain whether assigned or unassigned.
I do not want Microsoft Project - that sucks! I want Gannt overview in Planner!!!
Please add a Gantt Chart in Planner!!!

I have to echo comments already mentioned here and say that this is a much-needed feature. Every stakeholder wants a Gantt Chart and without it, we can't use Planner. You have the technology, you can do it, but at this point it seems like you are not willing to add Gannt chart features because you want to sell Project licenses. We are already paying for this tool within the O365 subscription and I feel we deserve a complete product.

So the answer to: ...and see them in a Gantt chart view..." is use MS Projects?
That doesn't sound like an answer to me, Planner/Tasks is an intuitive, quick and powerful tool for tiny projects. Seeing the assigned and scheduled tasks in a Gantt chart is very natural way to map out time constraints and optimize resource use. By not allowing for a "simple" Gantt view you are crippling an otherwise powerful tool. I hope this will be added at a later date because getting people to use MS Projects on an assembly line is not very practical, yet Planner/Tasks is used every day in our organisation with no training required.
Trying to sell another product instead of developing a gant view for planner is not a solution. Even i SharePoint online you have removed gantchart for list.
Project is to expensive to give to all that needs a gant chart. If Microsoft doesn’t develop this, is is cheaper to use a nother product
And the new project is still lacking a lot of features
