Thanks for all your feedback and for using Planner. We’re happy to announce that new Planner mobile apps are now available for Android phones and iPhone. This is just the start and we look forward to adding many additional features to these apps in the coming months. Please let us know what you’d like us to add by continuing to suggest and vote for features.

I like leveraging the Groups app as the "launcher" to the other properties tied to the group (Files and Notebook). I think Planner should be it's own native app (similar to Trello) but able to be launched from the Groups app.

The mobile app could be quite simple ... a way to add new tasks and delete old ones. But it would be good to be grouped into plan/bucket ... ie less useful if its just a long list of my tasks.

Yes. Planner should be surfaced from within the Groups App. Conversations, Files, Notebook, Calendar, and Plans are all components of a group.
