This is a simular product that loads into an open source application.
Download the free version look at the basic features and that would be a great start.
https://www.projectfork.net/The fact you cannot import or export a plan... link it to MS Project maybe, there are so many ways that this could be linked up and enhanced, its early days and this has the start of a great application but you need to look at what the others in the same space are offering as core applications and match or better them else whats the point, you just unleash a torrent of negative feedback that no one wants to read, and then users feel like they are being ignored again.

A feature where ALL TASKS can be exported by date and status -- and/or calendared that way -- would be very helpful for management to maintain overall workflows.

Yes, please! I want to click "Import from Project" and have my .mpp data (task name, duration, due date, dependencies, and resource assignment) sync to my plan in Planner. Bonus if Planner automatically adds users to the group by matching resource names across Project and Planner.

Agree, very important. No need to export if you use Office 365 and Litigation Hold for Outlook also works in Planner, OneNote, etc. but having records of who did what when and including the OneNote file, all emails from Outlook, files from SharePoint, etc. all saved as a zip file to upload to our management system would bring all these apps together. Right now it would be a lot of steps to save all that, if it's even possible...?

Brilliant idea - be nice if Planner could import from an excel spreadsheet as well. Creating a bucket in excel then importing into Planner.

I have two projects with an identical set of tasks. I discovered that Planner allows me to copy data from a single row in Excel across multiple columns. So, I have my generic task list built out in Excel, and I copied and pasted from Excel into individual tasks in a plan. And then I duplicated the process for the second plan. My Excel file had about 195 tasks to start with, so this was a LOT of work to manually create the tasks in the plans. I then invited about 30 users to each plan.
I'm experimenting with using Planner with live projects. It's hazardous, since the software has some bugs that users are noticing and complaining about.
I'm going to have two more projects later this year that will use the same set of tasks. I'm not looking forward to manually copying and pasting all of the tasks from Excel again.
If I had the chance to save a base plan as a template and then make copies of the plan, that would be one way to solve for this. Allowing for an Excel or Project file to be parsed into individual tasks would be a better way, in my opinion -- even if we had to have the Excel file formatted in a very specific way. Ideally, Microsoft would build some translation table like Excel has for mapping text to columns or other Microsoft applications have for parsing delimited files. For starters, I could live with having to have Excel have columns of data titled exactly the same as the fields in Planner. That would be far better than nothing.
Microsoft, please weigh in on this. Thanks.

Importing from from some delimited source is pretty critical for getting folks to do tests of any real complexity. CSV or Excel would be ideal.

Planner should have some way of mapping data from a spreadsheet or delimited text file for the purpose of creating new tasks in a board.
If the data had to be formatted a specific way with fields in a certain order, that wouldn't be my first choice, but it would be better than no import functionality.

we have many enterprise teams using trello. Trello has an export feature that sends the data to a .csv. It would be amazing if this data could then be imported.

I would like to see an import functionality. It would be great to import lists from SharePoint, or project Pro or even excel.

So, I have this small 1Msek project I'm about to start with 100+ activities already listed in Excel. Thought I'd take the opportunity to evaluate O365 Planner so tried to find a way to import the Excel list... and ended up here. Sure you're aiming at project managers and not only school children?

Import and export tasks/backlog or provide SDK. Reporting is another area which need to be added if import/export will not be available anytime soon
