Export to Excel
Ability to export Plan data to Excel
Thank you for your feedback and patience!
As an update, we haven’t reached this feature on our roadmap yet, but are wrapping up some larger items this month that will get us closer. We’ve been discussing how to best implement this feature, and love reading the comments on this thread. Please continue sharing how you would use an export to Excel feature and what you’d like the spreadsheets to look like!
The Planner Team
It would be great to be able to import data from an excel file and also back. Some people are not familiar with these new apps and an exported excel would help them.
Doing it all by hand is not helpful!
Also integrating reminder buttons and linking it with MS Outlook would be great - a full integration with the MS outlook calendar might be a big expectation but it would be awesome. Otherwise everything spreads into everywhere and the overview is gone.
If there was the chance to link it to Sharepoint sites it also would make a lot of sense to keep the teams updated.
It would be a very useful feature
so I am recommending to make a text based import / export feature as excel has, so supporting via a small wizzard, which means I can map the excel columns / headerfields to the target / source fields in planner and then generate a plan...
This export feature is an absolute must for us as well. I'm honestly surprised that Planner was released without it or some other way of printing the tasks.
We just need a printable report that we can review as a team and save and send copies to those who don't need invited to the team, but need to see the tasks and progress.

Planner should have more variations in reporting, this make it complete tool to manage work flow.
This is a MUST for my team! I hope this is coming soon!
If we can just have the buckets and tasks as a list on the SharePoint. That I think might be very helpfull. Then we can export and connect to excel. And refresh excel with the online data, and import data in the list.
Planner is non-viable for my team without reporting capabilities. We can't wait for this feature any longer, so we're regretfully exporting all all Planner cards into Trello by hand.
Planner had a lot of potential, but without reporting capabilities, it's not business ready at this time.
Would use simple extract of 'key' fields (e.g., Task Name, Description, Start/Stop Dates, Status, etc.) for custom reporting, analysis, presentations, etc. ....
Just as important to create large/detailed plans in excel and import into Planner

We would love to have activities exported in an easy to read format that will allow us to i.e share the status/progress, name of activity or responsible person. It does not matter wether it is in excel-format, word-format, picture-format or whatever. Just to bring the parts of our choosing and display them in a nice format, almost like the format today of the activity buckets. Without showing the customer all information ;-).
I have tasks logged in multiple excel sheets by various project channels. Its difficult to separate tasks based on priory from all the excel sheets. Planner would allow us to create separate buckets and import all the tasks/issues into the appropriate buckets for prioritization follow up.
I work in a matrix organization. Everyday, I am bombarded by action-item excel spreadsheets from each function. I can count 11 active spreadsheets, each one containing one or more items that need my attention. This item can have one or more dependencies that must be completed before I can complete my actions. Unless I sit in 11 bi-weekly update meetings, I am unable to keep up on progress to completion. I am sure that I am not the only one in this forum with such.
An excel to planner export feature - would be great!. Get those 11 initial spreadsheets with all the tasks and sub-tasks uploaded, exported to my calendar (so that my boss can see my workload), notifications for when sub-tasks related to my assigned activity are completed/modified/reassigned/further decomposed etc. and automated task schedule updates (if linked to microsoft project).
This way, I can be more productive rather than sitting in a meeting to listen to task updates!!!

so many wonderful features in Planner...but this tool will die on the vine if you dont address the Excel export capabilities. I would hate to see that happen but without any vehicle for reporting on the items across plans and for attributes not on the charts and schedule, it becomes almost useless.

I'm looking for a simple planning tool and we are deploying Microsoft Teams in my Customer company. They don't want to use planner, and prefer to directly use Excel ... we would love to be able to import tasks from Excel in Planner ! :) When we need to create 100 tasks manually each month, it looks hard to type them manually ...
We need Planner to export into Excel for end of week/month reporting for management. Each task needs to be a row and each field needs to be a column.
Please create this feature! I don't want to maintain 2 repositories of work for tracking purposes.
We also need customised field that we can add addition info like names of people, status etc to be able to extract into Excel.
also import excel to Planner
Need tasks itemized in appropriate "Groups" and respective durations in columns so as to be accumulated and graphed

We need export to Excel to better visualize the tasks completed the previous week as well as those that have not yet been scheduled, to set priorities.
Just having a spreadsheet that outlines all of the data for each task in a row (maybe a spreadsheet per planner?) would be great and save me a lot of time when I have to make monthly reports.
