Export to Excel
Ability to export Plan data to Excel
Thank you for the feedback! We love that our customers are interested in utilizing Planner in this way.
As a first step, we have added exporting to Excel to our roadmap and have changed the title of this thread to focus the conversation on this feature. Our team would love to hear more about the specific scenarios you would like to use this for so that we can build the best possible experience around this!
Card view is great for routine meetings, but often stream lined lists are needed to be provided to outside interests and there is no reasonable way to do this currently. I beg you, please if you want this product to be worth anything, implement Excel Export immediately... until you do its going to continue to be an aftertought. Honestly you are better served currently making sharepoint lists.
Integrate with Power bi?
It would be nice if I could archive it somehow.
It would be nice to export tasks by plans, boards, members, status and be able to PRINT
Any update as to when this roadmap item will be realized?
Software I have used in the past (Wrike) allowed for better visualization of tasks on a calendar AND upload via Excel. Really sad that Planner, despite being owned by Microsoft, can't do the same.
Without the ability to import or copy a plan and/or bucket, it is really not feasible to use this product for anything significant. I am waiting to roll this out to our team until we do not have to manually create a huge series of tasks for each project.
Definitely need ways the Planner data can export to (import from) other places such as Excel, Project desktop, SharePoint, Flow, etc.
Bit of a joke 2 years down the line and no export lol, exporting to excel would allow me to do every other "Improvement" in your weird voting system.

Reporting is a must and integration with Excel is a step in that direction.Ideally, I'd like to see Planner as an available data connection. Then it would be easy to set up tables in Excel and refresh the data without need to go through an export/import cycle.
Even better, allow the connection in Excel via PowerQuery that support a PowerPivot data model. That would answer most aggregate reporting needs.
what metadata will this include? This was suggested as a way to carry out eDiscovery of Planner data, but will all Planner metadata be included in the export? How would a non-global admin access a Planner (in Security & Compliance Center a user needs eDiscovery Manager role, but not admin to search and export data)
The export to excel feature will be used for primarily:
1. Merge with other projects to make decisions about workloads.
2. Archive and save plans so they can be deleted from Planer.

I would like to export to Excel to make the data more portable, without requiring Planner to see the data. I can use the Excel file to send to my leadership and to my team as a summary view, across all projects
Hello... i found a complement of excel that works fine to export the task ..i am surprised that so many people are wating for this and microsoft dont give us a date.
With this tool fulfiled my needs... and i am huppy that i will not wait another 2 years to a simple thing

I really like the planner tool....very easy to use and great for teams. so much more functional for what i need (non heavy duty project management).
BUT - it becomes useless without the ability to export the data and produce reports using Excel.
Please expedite integration/import/export with Excel or via CSV.
Without this feature, Planner will likely die a slow death due to lack of adoption.
like to export report that will show the plan, task, user, start date, due date, completion date.
This will allow to see our completion rate and areas were we can improve.

This would be helpful to export the information to share plans outside of the team, perform additional analytics and to support developing presentations on projects. Our team has been using the tool for the past 6-8 months and this is the biggest complaint of the tool so far. Other than lacking this feature the team is a huge fan of this tool. It is saving us time which is great!

Import and export to/from Excel would be a huge value add. That or any other flat file type as it would allow people to export data from existing project mgmt. tools and spreadsheet trackers. I think it should be a high priority use case.
We need to be able to share a report on progress for those outside of our team. They dont want to find progress they want to be sent progress. So some reporting \ export function would be great. Maybe even allow PowerBI to connect?
Couple of scenarios
1. Global view of tasks for the week/month/day
2. List of tasks for a user across all plans
3. List/Count of tasks for each user across all plans
