Timeline view to show schedule
A simple timeline view like SharePoint tasks to facilitate viewing the schedule

Hi everyone,
We recently announced and rolled out the new Microsoft Project, which was designed specifically to help teams collaborate on projects more efficiently and achieve more together. It was designed to be simple and powerful, so that anyone can get started quickly and take control of any project – regardless of its size – right away.
We’ve brought the Planner board view to the new Project! Along with this, you can see your tasks on a Timeline view, and a Grid view, both requested from many of our Planner users.
With this, we also rolled out a new subscription plan called “Project Plan 1” that allows you to start quickly and manage projects easily via the web browser.

Thanks everyone for your patience, I encourage you to check out the new Project, and even start a trial – see the attached GIF for a sneak peak!
Best,
The Project and Planner team

Trello now supports this feature. Some of us don't need the full Gantt features of project plan 1. Just a simple timeline view makes a big difference. There is a third party app that gets you there, but this is something that needs to be baked in.
also, last I checked, Project Plan 1 tasks don't integrate with the new Tasks app. Terrible decision. Two steps forward, one back.

Absolute jokers. Noone wants to pay for project if they can get away with using planner - all thats missing is a timeline view.
If you take a look at Orchestry from Michal Pisarek and co - they have some good canned web parts for displaying this info - it does come at a cost but there are a host of other good teams automation/governance features in the product. https://www.orchestry.com/ - it'll be a **** of a lot cheaper than buying project for everyone.

@admin, the intention of this feedback is not project related. It's for operations of teams and their tasks. I want to be able to see an ongoing timeline behind me of the work we did, plus a schedule of what's ahead for our team. I need a timeline going back 2 years ago of what tasks were worked on at what time.
This also helps when people leave, and the new people can see the history.
As an operations manager, I need a tool to manage my teams tasks. I don't need a project management tool, but an operational tool.

Very disappointed in the support for planner. We are looking for a solution in Planner, not Project. Please reconsider this advancement.

So you asked us how to make things better and 3 years later stealing the idea you come back to tell us you put this feature in a different product?

MS Project is not a fit for everyone: too complex. Give us a timeline please :)

I would like to see a simple timeline for each of my plan. It doesn't have to bee super complicated, just a timeline like one I can throw together in Visio with a start date and an end data with a today marker and tasks added as markers. https://krcasinomaxi.com/

Lack of a timeline has stopped me from utiliing Teams becasue inexpierenced users need to easily see where we are at in a project. A simple Timeline in Planner would be so beneficial. If I use a Sharepoint site... I cannot add Tasks and the timeline to SharePoint Home Page to make it a Tab in Teams. Of course, even if I were able to add it, those tasks do not sync to ToDo. Very Frustrating.

Disappointed. I switched from Trello to Planner, I have used Project in the past but I'm not a project manager but a department manager; Planner is the perfect fit. However, if you have Planner just to kill it later, then back to Trello I'll go. https://songbacmaxi.com/

I agree with Sylvian. Unfortunately the financial jump from Planner to Project is a really, really big jump. I like the looks of planner, but we aren't going to be utilizing planner for everyone. The jijitechnologies Link Sylvian added looks interesting, but now we're talking about hacking together 3rd party tools.

No timeline/gantt chart or roadmap alike view is a show stopper in my organization. We are using Sharepoint extensively and while trying to promote tasks/timeline for small projects management the interface is dated and not intuitive. Planner could have been an option but without this key feature available we are considering Trello or Monday.com
Project offers the functionality but cost is 3 times more expensive than Monday.com for a user base of around 100.
For those looking for a possible solution in planner:

What a disappointing answer and how ignorant to post this in the Planner UserVoice - one of the most requested features and the answer is: you can find it now in Project but not in Planner?
So UserVoice is useless as Microsoft is ignoring it?
You can do better Microsoft!

this is not what was asked for. at all. I think you know that people didn't want to buy another product to shore up a half implemented product. Really poor show and a step back in the listening to customers you've got better at over the years

Nice, but not what was asked for - for many users Project is overkill and an additional license cost to wear that might not be feasible in the company concerned. Planner fits the bill for most users but still has some annoying gaps. If I want to see all my tasks in a timeline and make a call on what needs to be adjusted because of overlaps or clashes in the schedule, I still can't do it easily with Planner... It's called Task Planning for a reason guys, and time-based views are part of that. To compete successfully with other offerings such as Trello, these annoying functional gaps should have been closed by now.

How does that answer the question ?
We are taking here about Planner, which is including in our 365 environment, and you are answering us by "please pay for Microsoft Project". -

This simply does not answer the request !
