Plans deletion/archive
As I saw that when you delete a Plan all conversations, Groups etc are deleted could be useful to have another Status for that Plans, maybe an "Archived" status, maybe visible in another dashboard or something similar.

We’d love to hear more about the following:
1. When would you delete or archive a plan?
2. How long would you like it to be accessible?
Feel free to include any specific scenarios where archiving a plan would be useful.
We appreciate your feedback and look forward to reading through your comments!
Cheers,
The Planner Team

I have too many plans to leave hanging around when finished. Also I do not want to delete them in case we need to double check it later or reference it again for some reason. Finding all the plans I need to work on today vs one I did last year is becoming an obnoxious task. Archiving Please!!!!! Additionally, I want to be able to click a button to archive it once I am done, not based on an AI, unless the AI is very customizable.

1) When the project/activity for which the plan/bucket was created is finished you may want to archive it. As opposed to deletion the plan will still be available, but made read-only so one may refer to its contents without a possibility to modify it.
2) I'd think of a retention period that can be configurable at a tenant level as a global default and a possibility to adjust it for an individual plan.

We use them to track tasks for clients. NEED the ability to archive that bucket so that we only see "active" buckets. However, sometimes we will need to make that bucket active again when we have more we need to do for that client -- could be 3, 6, 9, 12 months later.

We work on a general plan for Orders. Inside we group all steps and tasks related to orders in Buckets, which once we finish the order shall be archive. We need the option to archive without deleting the bucket and then loosing the tasks inside as we might review at some point the process and questions we had.

At the end of a sprint/quarter we calculate our planned to completed ratio. When the time interval is done we adjust dates of uncompleted tasks and start over. I don't want the tasks from previous sprints to disappear, but I don't want them to show up in statistics either.

We would be interested in a Bucket or Task archive feature, plus Search facility. As a small advertising agency we use each task as a client job card and move them across Buckets until the job is completed. These can soon become cluttered as we want to keep the overall plan indefinitely, however want to search the details of an archived client job.

Having a searchable and browsable archive of completed buckets and/or tasks would be very helpful. This could be used for employee reviews and tracking productivity and task completion rates over time. Deleting completed tasks removes the ability to look back at this history. Keeping completed tasks and buckets as is clutters the interface and makes it more difficult to keep the current tasks at the forefront of the board. https://casinoonlinemaxi.ro/

We create a plan for each property management client, then a bucket for each unit we are renovating. each unit may last a month or a week or anywhere in between. it would be nice to archive the bucket once the unit is completed so we can reference when tasks were completed for that unit. also being able to copy the bucket or loading a template with all of the same tasks would be helpful, as a lot of the units have the same scope of work.

An archived bucket that hides plans (similar to how completed tasks are hidden) would be a very simple solution. Move the archived category to the bottom of the navigation pane. How is this not an option yet?

We create buckets for clients as we are doing a lot of collaboration to ramp up and launch the service before it hits our service database. We would like to archive Client buckets when launch is successful so we still have the data to show work completed and we won't have to continually move completed buckets beyond our active buckets. It is very cluttered with so many completed buckets.

1. I would see a need to Archive in the following: If a plan is used for a specific project. If the team the plan was for is no longer necessary.
2. Would want to be able to determine a time period to retain the plan/board. Should be adjustable by owner. -

Please add a simple button "Archive" on top of completed tasks and also provide a way to see/find these archived tasks latter, however it would provide a clear view of recently completed tasks.

We handle a lot of projects in parallel and we would like to use planner for our tasks. We could manage each project in one planner group. As far as all tasks have been done (it can last a few months to finish the tasks in one planner group) it would be absolutely necessary to archive this planner group. We can do it with export to excel, but at the moment there is no possibility to export the comments in a task. Therefore we cannot use it today because we have to archive all our projects for many years.

As has been noted elsewhere, it would be nice if the Planner could be archived to a read-only OneNote or somewhere similar on sharepoint, so that the content stays searcheable.

being a government worker, the information that would be in planner would be of vital interest down the road and there are certain rules of maintaining information of this nature for a number of years, so it would be great if plans could be archieved, maybe in or on the onedrive

Archive a plan is quite important, otherwise with the increasing plans you will have to see so many existing plans!
One of my work is handling product request, that is collecting requirement for improving existing product, evaluate the requirement and submmit the request to R&D dept. Shall I create a plan to trace the process of each product request, or create just one plan and create a task for each product reqeust? If it cannot support archive plan, you can imagine how many existing plans there will be! -

Need a way to handle incorrect deletion. It can’t be that by mistake a user deletes a task or a bucket and we can’t restore it back.

Archiving of a plan like you can archive a Teams group.
Everything in the plan goes to read only and only the plan owner can keep adapting the members for reviewing the data.
Mark the plans with an archive symbol and remove them to an Archived section.
When a Team gets archived, associated plans should also get archived with it (or a setting that lets you make a choice to do so or not) -

A simple "Project Archived" option would help out a lot with historical data retention on annual tasks. After "Archived" have it moved a separate section titled as such on the dashboard. It would be nice to have it a read-only status protecting it for future reference too.
